Historia
America, says Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Chris Hedges, is convulsed by an array of pathologies that have arisen out of profound hopelessness, a bitter despair and a civil society that has ceased to function. The opioid crisis, the retreat into gambling to cope with economic distress, the pornification of culture, the rise of magical thinking, the celebration of sadism, hate, and plagues of suicides are the physical manifestations of a society that is being ravaged by corporate pillage and a failed democracy. All these ills presage a frightening reconfiguration of the nation and the planet.

Truly Shocking
Revisado: 05-11-19
Extremely shocking, as usual Mr. Hedges doesnt hold back any punches. I think this is his most extreme book. If every human read this book, I cannot imagine the progress and advances civilization should accomplish. Nonetheless, to read Chris Hedges is to be 100% accountable to oneself and higher level of ethics than average intellectual. I suspect only extremely high IQ folks could even accomplish this degree of mental & human challenge.

Revisado: 06-02-18
Greatest achievement of Lee Harvey Oswald was coming back to life to kill Bobby. This author refuses to accept many questions behind failed US regime, patriotism used as vehicle of authoritarian doctrine. This author needs to read Stephen Kinzer The True Flag and The Devil’s Chessboard

Wonderful Book
Revisado: 09-24-15
What did you love best about Moby Dick?
The narration is superb. Every classic is a masterpiece, so all we should do is listen or read a piece of Americana.
Have you listened to any of Anthony Heald’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
no
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
A film would ruin this story.

From 1789 in France to 2011 in Cairo, revolutions have shaken the world. They have often, though not always, sparked cataclysmic violence, and have at times won miraculous victories, though at other times suffered devastating defeat.

Jack Goldstone Ignores Reality
Revisado: 09-24-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I am a political science theorist, so this book is for me. The problem is the author has based the book on some fantasyland.
Would you ever listen to anything by Jack A. Goldstone again?
no
Any additional comments?
Revolution is a subject that many people know about, but the author imagines that no one has ever even thought of the concept. Goldstone is so far off the truth. He ignores so much of the historical context as well as the philosophical context of the Enlightenment as well as the the whole thesis of Enlightenment.

Ethical Right to the Point
Revisado: 09-23-15
As usual Noam Chomsky is right on target to tell it how it truly is. This book has been revised to 2015. You will learn about Oslo accords and many more sad realities about our imperialistic & pseudo-democratic military killing doctrine and regime. But the human spirit still has hope that truth and love will prevail.
