Great characters, good balance of story and action.

Very well done. Flawed but compelling lead character with interesting interior monologue and a complicated family situation. Lots of imaginative scene changes and some fun characters.

Surprising, Great Performances
Revisado: 05-23-23
This one had a few unexpected twists and great characters, good story. I felt it was very woman-centered, which is a nice change in this sub-genre.

Historia
In a distant future, no remnants of human beings remain, but their successors thrive throughout the galaxy. These are the offspring of humanity's genius-animals uplifted into walking, talking, sentient beings. The Fant are one such species: anthropomorphic elephants ostracized by other races and long ago exiled to the rainy ghetto world of Barsk. There, they develop medicines upon which all species now depend.

Stay with it. It all comes together in the end
Revisado: 03-13-18
There is a lot of run up to the real story here, but it's necessary because the is a very unusual universe that the author is creating. Really came to like those elephants. Tip: do a quick Wikipedia review on elephants before you start reading, and it will make more sense.

Historia
Jack Walker and Michael Talbot come from two worlds; the same, yet different. They both find themselves transported into an alien one, where things aren’t as they seem. While it appears similar to the ones they come from, there are some terrifying differences. Is it a dream? Or has reality been somehow warped? Jack comes from a world filled with nocturnal creatures that were once human, but now seek to destroy the last vestiges of humanity.

Helps to really like guns
Revisado: 05-09-16
I did start to really care about the characters and what happened to them, and enjoyed the humor. Trip is great. But descriptions of guns and ammo seem to be about a third of the book, and several less than flattering stereotypical descriptions of women, so if you are one, be warned.
