Booker T. Washington fought his way out of slavery to become an educator, statesman, political shaper, and proponent of the "do-it-yourself" idea. In his autobiography, he describes his early life as a slave on a Virginia plantation, his steady rise during the Civil War, his struggle for education, his schooling at the Hampton Institute, and his years as founder and president of the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, which was devoted to helping minorities learn useful, marketable skills.

Historia
It has sadly become evident that over the past 70 years, Americans have become increasingly ignorant of our nation's founding principles. Civic education and American history have either not been taught, or have been deliberately mistaught throughout our nation's public—and in numerous cases, private education system.

Historia
Ryan Fleming is a young agnostic reeling from his brother’s death. Though he is deeply angry with God, he makes good on a promise he made to his brother in the final moments of his life: to visit a church at least once. But shortly after his arrival, the slick megachurch’s shoddily installed video projector falls on his head—sending Ryan through a wormhole into another world. To make it back to his own universe, he must partner with a woman named Faith to awaken a long-sleeping King—the World-Maker who can make all things new.

heart warming tale
Revisado: 01-21-23
This remake was absolutely the best thing I have ever heard! I loved Paul Bunyan's Pilgrims Progress, but this modern remake is amazing! I love how Jesus' story was ever apparent in the sea of postmodern ideas. Joel and Kyle did a fabulous job of weaving Bunyan's old story with new modern themes. I loved all the one-liner references - it made the story a delight. I thought Michael Axtell did a great job reading, but I would have loved to hear Jarett Lemaster read the next one. Thank you for the update! I am sharing this one with everyone I meet!

Historia
"Up from Slavery" is the 1901 autobiography of Booker T. Washington sharing his personal experience of having to work to rise up from the position of a slave child during the Civil War, to the difficulties and obstacles he overcame to get an education at the new Hampton Institute, to his work establishing the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama to help black people learn useful, marketable skills and work to pull themselves up by the bootstraps. He reflects on the generosity of both teachers and philanthropists who helped in educating blacks and Native Americans.

Historia
Uncle Tom's Cabin was the best-selling novel of the 19th century and the second best-selling book of that century, following the Bible. It is credited with helping fuel the abolitionist cause in the 1850s. In 1855, three years after it was published, it was called "the most popular novel of our day." A thrilling and important piece of American literature!

True-life story of slaves' story
Revisado: 01-17-19
This heart-breaking and moving story follows a group of slaves. Some have a good life and some have a tragic life. I think every American should read this! It tells the real story of what happened to slaves, not a watered down version in history books. The reader does a good job, but doesn't deviate her voice much for the different characters.

Historia
Many years ago, the storytellers say, the great King Arthur brought justice to England with the help of his gallant Knights of the Round Table. Sir Lancelot the Great: Of these worthy knights, there was never one so fearless, so chivalrous, so honorable, so…shiny as the dashing Sir Lancelot. Sir Givret the Short: Poor Givret: His size makes him so easy to overlook. But there’s more to knighthood than height. Sir Gawain the True The knights didn’t always act quite as gallantly as a true knight should. Even King Arthur’s nephew....
