Historia
Bridging women's history, the history of the South, and African-American history, this audiobook makes a bold argument about the role of white women in American slavery. Historian Stephanie E. Jones-Rogers draws on a variety of sources to show that slave-owning women were sophisticated economic actors who directly engaged in and benefited from the South's slave market.

It’s informative how the evil of this world can bind itself to you through curses. Sources known and unknown can reek havoc on your life because of ignorance or blatant misinformation. I renounce every curse and demonic presence over my families’ lives.

Historia
Within every community, toxic people can be found hiding in families, couples, companies, and places of worship. The cryptic nature of psychological abuse involves repetitious mind games played by one individual or a group of people. Psychological abuse leaves no bruises. There are no broken bones. There are no holes in the walls. The bruises, brokenness, and holes are held tightly within the target of the abuse.

I felt the overall tone of the book was an expression of how to approach, identify and respond to abusers. The gentle language and tone held my interest as I didn’t need to feel attacked so understand my own faults. We do recover! The healing journey is as individual as our uniqueness.

The tantalizing story of a young girl thirsting for human connection only to be rejected and rebuffed by the ones she trusted. Mastering her environment only to be decorated and honored after public humiliation. Time does not heal all wounds.

Historia
In 1927, Zora Neale Hurston went to Plateau, Alabama, just outside Mobile, to interview 86-year-old Cudjo Lewis. Of the millions of men, women, and children transported from Africa to America as slaves, Cudjo was then the only person alive to tell the story of this integral part of the nation's history. Hurston was there to record Cudjo's firsthand account of the raid that led to his capture and bondage 50 years after the Atlantic slave trade was outlawed in the United States. In 1931, Hurston returned to Plateau, the African-centric community three miles from Mobile.

It was an acceptable choice. I did get a bit lost as the redundancy of exquisite overshadowed the message. The beginning was informative, the ending was repetitive.

Historia
“The problem of the twentieth century is the problem of the color line,” writes Du Bois, in one of the most prophetic works in all of American literature. First published in 1903, this collection of 15 essays dared to describe the racism that prevailed at that time in America—and to demand an end to it. Du Bois’ writing draws on his early experiences, from teaching in the hills of Tennessee, to the death of his infant son, to his historic break with the conciliatory position of Booker T. Washington.

Revisado: 09-02-18
This book was easy to identify with even though it was written in 1903. It was very compelling and gave a descriptive account of the "thinking" African Americans.
