Historia
Finally out of the celebrity spotlight and away from her mother's demands, Cilla is free to do what she loves: fixing up houses for profit. Her current project is personal. The Shenandoah Valley farm house was once the vacation home of Hollywood luminary Janet Hardy, Cilla's grandmother. When Cilla uncovers a stash of her grandmother's private letters, and begins asking questions about the past, she becomes the target of a crazed killer.

The Reader is Terrible
Revisado: 04-17-25
The reader was the perfect age for all the older women in the story, way too old for Cilla. She very nearly ruined Ford Sawyer for me, also, and he’s my very fav Nora Robert male protagonist. She committed to a very bad “southern” accent and gives no thought to tone, and obviously has no understanding of lanky geeky guys. Her speaking voice has some sort of affectation - something in the front of her mouth - that was present in every character’s speech so far. I’m only just beginning it, not sure if I’ll finish it. I think I’ll just read it myself this weekend. Maybe try to return this.

Carolyn Brown is usually hit or miss
Revisado: 04-21-23
But this one maybe falls in between - it’s really just boring. Boring to an Olympic degree. Also, Audrey needed to be smacked. People who love Carolyn Brown will love this one too, despite the slog to the very expected end.

Slow
Revisado: 02-22-23
The story was fine, but it was sooooooo slow. It never really picked up. It was somewhat repetitive, as well. I stayed with it thru the end, but it wasn’t easy.
I didn’t love the reader either - her voice was really too mature for Lily and Hazel, some of the others. There were times I couldn’t tell if it was Lily or Rose speaking.

Another Great Story
Revisado: 02-10-23
I so enjoy this series. Wonderfully written, and Elizabeth Knowlden’s reading was, as always, masterful. To me this was also by far the funniest - I had many moments of out loud laughter listening to this on my long commute. Such fun.

Historia
As one of the few witches in Britain, Mika Moon knows she has to hide her magic, keep her head down, and stay away from other witches so their powers don’t mingle and draw attention. And as an orphan who lost her parents at a young age and was raised by strangers, she’s used to being alone and she follows the rules...with one exception: an online account, where she posts videos "pretending" to be a witch. She thinks no one will take it seriously.

Enjoyed the Story
Revisado: 04-22-22
I enjoyed this story more than I thought I would. The readers did not add to the experience. I liked the one who did Sadie’s voice, but neither one of them did male voices at all well. Maybe this is mean, but I don’t understand why they paid 2 okay readers instead of paying 1 good one, though I tend stay away from multi-reader books. Your mileage may vary.

So funny!
Revisado: 11-24-21
Thoroughly enjoyed this. If you have ever watched The Great British Bake Off even a single episode, you’ll recognize the truth in this.
Fast-paced, witty dialogue, and an engaging story had me laughing aloud, and the reader was excellent.
Definite new fave. I’ll be listening again.

For what it’s worth
Revisado: 11-02-21
I couldn’t get past the readers accent or the fact that I thought the main character Leelee was in her mid to late 50s. Didn’t buy her as the parent of such young children. Looked at the reviews and thought it’s probably not worth finishing. Glad it’s included & I didn’t waste a credit.

Another Miss
Revisado: 08-27-21
This one is another miss by this hit-or-miss author. The least of its sins is that it’s boring, edging on tedious. The story is amateurish at best.
The reader did well with what she had to work with, but it’s a definite pass from me.
