Historia
In the sleepy rural town of Painters Mill, Ohio, the Amish and "English" residents have lived side by side for two centuries. But 16 years ago, a series of brutal murders shattered the peaceful farming community. Kate Burkholder, a young Amish girl, survived the terror of the Slaughterhouse Killer but came away from its brutality with the realization that she no longer belonged with the Amish. Now, a wealth of experience later, Kate has been asked to return to Painters Mill as Chief of Police. She's certain she's come to terms with her past - until the first body is discovered in a snowy field.

Horrendous narrator
Revisado: 03-01-16
It's hard to continue listening when the men sound like preteen girls & Amish sound like a robot.

Wrong narrator for setting
Revisado: 11-17-15
I am only 1/4 of the way in and I am very disappointed in the narration. I was hoping to lose myself in the writing & characters but find myself quite distracted by the wrong accent. It is very frustrating.

Historia
In The Keeper of Lost Causes, Jussi Adler-Olsen introduced Detective Carl Mørck, a deeply flawed, brilliant detective newly assigned to run Department Q, the home of Copenhagen’s coldest cases. The result wasn’t what Mørck - or readers - expected, but by the opening of Adler-Olsen’s shocking, fast-paced follow-up, Mørck is satisfied with the notion of picking up long-cold leads. So he’s naturally intrigued when a closed case lands on his desk: A brother and sister were brutally murdered two decades earlier....

Wrong Narrator
Revisado: 04-12-13
The first book in this series was narrated beautifully which gave a great sense of place. This one has such a British accent that I felt I was listening to Harry Potter.
Please bring back the 1st narrator for the next book in the series!

Poorly written
Revisado: 12-22-12
This was a 'sale' book and I regret the purchase. The writing is overdone and the narrator adds more to it so that I feel like I'm listening to a soap opera.

Historia
In the murky shadows of an alley lies a female’s severed hand. On the tenement rooftop above is the corpse belonging to that hand, a red-haired woman dressed all in black, the body nearly decapitated. Two strands of silver hair — not human — cling to her body. They are Rizzoli’s only clues, but they’re enough for her and medical examiner Maura Isles to make a startling discovery: This violent death had a chilling prequel.

Poor Narration
Revisado: 10-18-12
The narration detracts from the story. I'm disappointed. I've liked Gerritsen's novels in the past so I had been looking forward to this one.
