Dreams of becoming the next Nadia Comaneci led Jennifer Sey to become a gymnast at the age of six. Her early success and love of the sport propelled her and her family to great sacrifice so that she could become a National Team member and one of America’s elite gymnasts by age 11. But as she set her sights higher, Jennifer began to change, setting her mental and physical health aside in the name of winning.

Interesting inside look at gymnastics
Revisado: 08-19-24
I liked hearing the challenges and triumphs of a young competitive gymnast’s life, and found I couldn’t put the book down. I appreciate her honesty in uncovering what many outside the gymnastics world had already suspected- the physical and emotional abuse of young girls. The narration was clear and warm. Very much enjoyed it!

This teaching is not biblical—please read.
Revisado: 07-15-21
Joseph Murphy uses Bible verses, but only the ones that he can twist to support his thesis. If you care about what the Bible says, consider that by biblical standards, this would be false teaching and would not honor God or lead to a true relationship with him. Rather, it would lead to materialism and an unhealthy obsession with trying to make everything go perfectly in this life. This is spiritually and emotionally dangerous. Unfortunately, God sometimes gives us things we don’t want, and while we shouldn’t seek suffering, we must accept it or else be continually disappointed when unrealistic expectations meet reality. True joy that does not depend on circumstances comes from having a personal relationship with Jesus. We can have this relationship by trusting the gospel of Jesus. The gospel of Jesus is that 1. we are sinners, deserving God’s punishment, 2. Jesus is God in the flesh, and he died on the cross to take our punishment, and 3. he rose physically from the dead, victorious over sin. If you believe those truths and submit to Jesus as the Lord of your life, you will be reconciled to God, and you can have joy even in the midst of this life’s suffering. Sometimes God heals and makes us comfortable, but we do not demand those things or see them as our right. When he does, we praise him. When he doesn’t, we pray for relief, but we praise him yet. If you are unfamiliar with the message of the Bible, read one of the Gospels, and then read through the whole Bible carefully from beginning to end. Check out videos from The Bible Project on YouTube for some easily understandable commentary. I have no association with them, but I have been helped by them.
