Historia
“Homecoming” takes us back to Ford County, the fictional setting of many of John Grisham’s unforgettable stories. Jake Brigance is back, but he’s not in the courtroom. He’s called upon to help an old friend, Mack Stafford, a former lawyer in Clanton, who three years earlier became a local legend when he stole money from his clients, divorced his wife, filed for bankruptcy, and left his family in the middle of the night, never to be heard from again—until now. Now Mack is back, and he’s leaning on his old pals, Jake and Harry Rex, to help him return. His homecoming does not go as planned.

Then, in a matter of seconds, Brooke’s life is shattered when she’s carjacked. Thrown away by her parents, and with a future as stable as the wooden crate she calls home, Molly survives day to day by her wits.

Historia
At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. The story is told by Cyril’s son Danny, as he and his older sister, the brilliantly acerbic and self-assured Maeve, are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother.

Bravissimo!
Revisado: 10-10-19
This book held me hostage beginning to end.I never could decide if it was just the characters who fascinated me or if the the house was going to act or behave somehow?
I really could listen to Tom Hanks speak all day and he did a profoundly good job of being Danny.

Raymond Jaffe feels like he doesn’t belong. Not with his mother’s new family. Not as a weekend guest with his father and his father’s wife. Not at school, where he’s an outcast. After his best friend moves away, Raymond has only two real connections: to the feral cat he’s tamed and to a blind ninety-two-year-old woman in his building who’s introduced herself with a curious question: Have you seen Luis Velez?

A Gospel for today!
Revisado: 05-24-19
I am a fan of Ms. Hyde but this the best ever of all previous. It is a gospel which could happen anywhere in our country. Happy, sad, and yes funny at times. The characters became my friends quickly as I followed them throughout and left them with reluctance.
The tribalism aspect hit me like a truck at high speed. I accept at great sorrow the truth of this reality...the sadness of that truth will remain.

A disappointment
Revisado: 01-15-19
I was turned off by the portrayal of Anna. At the beginning she got trashy with Arthur and then the reader was expected to put that aside as the story went on. Anna was up and down in terms of her character...not just complex...a bit immature

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

A beautiful, true, nightmare lived out by heroes.
Revisado: 06-22-15
At times I had to stop listening and just breathe...too frightening to be real...knowing all the time it was real and not just a nightmare. The question over and over for me was how did the survivors live on after the events portrayed in this book. What could or should a human being do or be after evil becomes a reality.
