Historia
Amanda and Clay head out to a remote corner of Long Island expecting a vacation: a quiet reprieve from life in New York City, quality time with their teenage son and daughter, and a taste of the good life in the luxurious home they’ve rented for the week. But a late-night knock on the door breaks the spell. Ruth and G. H. are an older couple—it’s their house, and they’ve arrived in a panic. They bring the news that a sudden blackout has swept the city. But in this rural area—with the TV and internet now down, and no cell phone service—it’s hard to know what to believe.

Historia
In this epic thriller by popular British journalist and author Tom Knox, a secret lurks beneath blazing sands - triggering ritualistic slaughter and threatening the founÂdations of modern thought. When an archaeological dig in Kurdistan unearths a structure far older than Stonehenge or the Great Pyramids, British reporter Rob Lutrell rushes to the scene. But this intriguing assignment takes a turn for the worse when sabotage and murder cast a frightening shadow over the site.

Awful. Predictable. Cliched.
Revisado: 11-26-22
The only reason I'm not demanding a refund on this is because I wasn't expecting much in the first place. That and I feel like I should give a writer struggling as much as this one clearly is some way to feed themselves.
The plot is simple; guy has tragic backstory, guy stumbles across a strange secret, guy digs further and finds earth shattering discovery, guy manages to "defeat" bad guy, get the girl, and wrap up the entire mystery in a nice little bow. The author tried to amp up the tension by adding more words (didn't help) there was so much unnecessary information I would glaze over whole chapters and could still follow along. The only person that was at all interesting was the bad guy, and even that was meh.
The narrator was good though.
