Great Story - Terrible Narration
Revisado: 08-13-19
I really loved the story itself. I really like Julie and it was a great story from her point of view. I will probably get a paper copy to read it myself using the Oliver Wyman's voices in my head. It was an engaging plot that further built upon great characters. If you like the other Monster Hunter Books you will like the story.
Now the criticism. The narrator was awful. I don't think she even listened to the other books before narrating this one. How can she pronounce Harbinger differently and think that's OK. And she didn't even try for a Southern or German accent and only kind of tried for a French accent (and it was horrible and inconsistent). I'm actually OK having a female narrate instead of using Mr. Wyman, esp where it's a book from Julie's point of view. However, the narrator should at least try to keep consistency with what was done before. If anything will make it hard for some listeners it will be the narration detracting from the great story.
I won't return the audio book since I do like the story and want a complete collection, but I do beg you to have it re-recorded using a different narrator. PLEASE! PLEASE! Pretty PLEASE! (Mr. Trash Bags would really want you to re-record it too)

Historia
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Fascinating for the Whole Family
Revisado: 08-06-18
This book was a hit with my family. We knew very little of Norse mythology outside the marvel cinematic universe (so not very much). We listed to this while backpacking as a family and it was fantastic. The stories are crazy but paint a great picture of old Norse beliefs and values. You really get into the stories and characters, it is well worth the listen and educational as well.

Oberon the Irish wolfhound is off to Portland to smell all the things with canine companions, and, of course, his human, ancient Druid Atticus O'Sullivan. The first complication is an unmistakable sign of sinister agendas afoot: a squirrel atop the train. But an even more ominous situation is in store when the trio plus Atticus stumble across a murder upon arrival at the station. They recognize Detective Gabriela Ibarra, who's there to investigate. But they also recognize the body - or rather that the body is a doppelganger for Atticus himself.

So fun everyone should listen
Revisado: 01-26-18
This was one of the most fun books I've ever listened to. I love the iron druid books but would love even more meaty mysterious. Oberon is sick a great character and the narration is second to none.

Historia
When Monster Hunter International's top hunter, Owen Zastava Pitt, was given a tip about some hunters who had gone missing in action, he didn't realize their rescue mission would snowball into the single biggest operation in MHI's history. Their men are being held prisoner in a horrific nightmare dimension, and the only way to reach them is through the radioactive ruins of a monster-infested war zone. As if that wasn't bad enough, it's also the home base of the powerful creature behind the devastating attacks on the Last Dragon and Copper Lake.

Historia
When marine private Oliver Chadwick Gardenier is killed in the marine barrack bombing in Beirut, somebody who might be Saint Peter gives him a choice: Go to heaven, which, while nice, might be a little boring, or return to earth. The Boss has a mission for him, and he's to look for a sign. He's a marine: He'll choose the mission. Unfortunately, the sign he's to look for is "57". Which, given the food services contract in Bethesda Hospital, creates some difficulty. Eventually it appears that God's will is for Chad to join a group called Monster Hunters International.
