What a story!!
Revisado: 04-17-21
I have followed this heroine from the get fo but I think this is the best installment to date! The twists, turns and suspense created by Castillo are superb and Kathleen McInerney is an excellent narrator. I’m ready to dive into the next one!

Historia
Edgar Award winner Jonathan Kellerman once more explores the corruption of California's golden coast and produces a novel of complex characterizations and nonstop suspense. By the time psychologist Dr. Alex Delaware reached the school the damage was done: A sniper had opened fire on a crowded playground, but was gunned down before any children were hurt. While the TV news crews feasted on the scene and Alex began his therapy sessions with the traumatized children, he couldn't escape the image of a slight teenager clutching an oversized rifle.

Long time coming
Revisado: 03-04-21
I’m glad the mystery of Bonnie’s death is finally revealed. I agree with others who commented that there was too much repetition in this book. I can think of no reason why an author would write, verbatim, things that had been covered in a previous book. A trilogy is just that. Volume one, two and three. If someone picks up volume two first, a little background is all that is needed to bring them up to speed. Not repetition. Add to that the fact that the only descriptions used to describe the emotions of the characters relates to their lips, and now we’ve got a combination that made we want to quit. But I had to know what happened to Bonnie so I kept going. The supernatural thing didn’t bother me. This is fiction so whatever happens is fine. That being said, I think I will take a break from Eve Duncan and listen to some good old fashioned murder mysteries!

Historia
Will Robie escaped his small Gulf Coast hometown of Cantrell, Mississippi, after high school, severing all personal ties, and never looked back. Not once. Not until the unimaginable occurs. Unlike the missions Robie undertook in the service of his country, where his target was clearly defined, digging into his father's case only reveals more questions. Robie is drawn into the hidden underside of Cantrell, where he must face the unexpected and possibly deadly consequences of the long-ago choices made by father and son.

Not the typical Robie storyline
Revisado: 02-05-21
While this book veered away from the typical Will and Jessica mission storyline, it was still an interesting listen. I agree with other reviews that indicated it was hard to differentiate between characters at times since the ‘voices’ blended into one another, but that didn’t ruin the intrigue and surprise. I took this story in as I would any “stand-alone” book. It had familiar characters yet explored behind the scenes issues. If folks can break away from the mindset that “A Robie book has to follow a certain pattern,” I think they’ll enjoy it.

Intriguing Sci-Fi
Revisado: 07-31-19
I haven’t listened to Science Fiction for quite a while, and this novel gave me the “itch” to get back into it. I saw an advertisement for it when I was at the movie so I just had to log on to my Audible account to select it. I wasn’t disappointed! The characters were easy to follow and the story line never got boring. The ending left me waiting for he sequel!
