Will be recommending this series to everyone!
Revisado: 03-07-23
It was a little slow in the beginning but it definitely picked up!! At first I thought it might be a little too little kidish for me & while it is definitely PG/PG-13, it was still thrilling & interesting & kept me guessing. I can’t wait to start the second book! I hope this gets made into a movie or tv series!

Really wanted to DNF
Revisado: 02-21-23
I like mysteries & I like fantasy so I really wanted to like this, but it was a struggle to finish it. I came to this series after finishing the ACOTAR series & I remember I almost DNF’ed the 1st book in that series, but I’m so glad that I didn’t because the 2nd half & the books that followed were so much better! So I stuck it out with this book & kept telling myself it would get better, but I felt like every time it started to get good it would then take a turn in a different direction. There was too much going on & too many unimportant details. Normally I love when an author writes in a lot of detail & description, but this just felt like too much about the wrong things. It was so unnecessarily long; there were at least 3 different points in the book where I thought for sure it was the end & it would’ve been good cliffhanger to end on, but it just kept going. Maybe I should’ve read a non-fantasy series in between ACOTAR & this series.
I wanted to read SJM’s TOG series next but I’ve read a lot of reviews of them saying it doesn’t get good until the 4th or 5th book! Idk if I have the patience for that. I think I will still try the 2nd book of this series & maybe even TOG, but I’m definitely going to wait until I have nothing left on my TBR.

They are commodities for sale, available for purchase by the highest bidder. So when the madame of a notorious brothel in a far-off city offers a king's ransom to purchase Amaris, Nox ends up taking her place—while Amaris is drawn away to the mountains, home of mysterious assassins.

Revisado: 02-21-23
Loved it! The world building was amazing! Wasn’t a fan of the way the narrator did Amaris’s voice; I get that she was probably trying to portray her as younger but it was just too little kid-ish for me, even when she was older. But that didn’t take away from the story!

It was so tough at first I almost gave up & didn’t listen to it. But about half way through I didn’t even remember it was a different person, the only time I remembered the narrator was different was when she did the male’s voices.

It’s good
Revisado: 11-01-22
I decided to check this book out b/c of all the hype it gets on “Book Tok” & it seemed right up my alley. I honestly I didn’t really get into it until chapter 15 or 16. I am going to listen to the rest of the books in the series, but so far based on just this book, idk if it’s necessarily worth all the hype. Kind of makes me think of a PG-13 version of beauty & the beast.
