I've been dating for years and if this book had been around when I started it would have saved me so much wasted time and effort.

Historia
After the old gods warred and drove themselves to extinction, the cataclysm of their fall shattered the land of Vigrio. Now, power-hungry jarls carve out petty kingdoms, and monsters stalk the shadow-haunted woods and mountains. A world where the bones of the dead gods still hold great power, promising fame, and fortune for those brave - or desperate - enough to seek them out. As whispers of war echo over the plains and across the fjords, fate follows the footsteps of three people. All three will shape the fate of the world, as it once more teeters on the edge of chaos.

Just not for me
Revisado: 08-25-22
I got this title based on the recommendation of a friend who also really enjoyed GoT. I want to say I finished it, but the pace of the story and the narration performance was so slow and plodding that by chapter 15 I still didn't care about the characters or the stakes so I gave up. And while I am sure there are plenty of people who like the vivid, sometimes superfluous, description of violence and gore it was too much for me. The author obviously has a very thorough knowledge of viking history but, and again this is just me, I found it a bit pedantic. All in all, it's not for me but that doesn't mean it won't be for others.

Historia
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

I have struggled to find an audiobook that keeps me engaged. And I have finally found it. I just finished my second listen of this book, and I was just as engrossed throughout as I was the first time I listened to it. Not only is this a wonderful book, but the narration is fantastic. I may be biased as I have a massive crush on Wil Wheaton, but I don't think that is the only reason I enjoyed this book. the story is full of fabulous references, and woven together so masterfully. I could listen to this book a thousand times, and never once be bored. Probably my favorite book in The Last 5 Years.
