Cruel psychological experiments on young children

The young desperate naive mother is the main character but many hours of the audiobook are spoken by the character of her daughter, a 5-year old girl. Others objected to the performance of the child’s voice, but I object to listening so much to the child at all. I didn’t enjoy the story of cruel psychological experiments on young children. I have read and liked other books by this author, but I do not recommend this book.

Excellent historical story

This book is an excellent story based on extensive research of the characters and subject matter. The switching from WWII Paris to 1980s Montana works well and the two stories are tied together very nicely by the end of the book. I highly recommend this book.

Outstanding story and production

I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery and good character development. The production is very enjoyable with podcast episodes and effects embedded in the audiobook. It’s a good story with twists and holds your interest throughout.

Great characters and suspense

This latest Lisa Jewell book is great. Like most of her books, it flips from present day back and forth to the recent past, but it is easy to follow. It has great development of characters and their relationships. It has great suspense as what happened is gradually revealed. It will hold your interest until the end. And it wraps up every thread of the story. I highly recommend this book.

This book is about how and why to cultivate a spiritual practice. The author states that prayer is a form of meditation and is an inner practice of awareness and intention. The author also states that it is not limited by time or place, nor is it limited to a particular religion or belief. The book provides suggestions on breathing and visualization to aid a prayer practice.

This is Maggie Smith the poet, not the actress with the same name. This is an outstanding meditation on loss,,change, and growth. It is read by the author in a poetic style. This is an authentic book in which the poet shares her intimate story and insights. This book invites reflection and contemplation.

Potential wasted

I was really enjoying this book. I liked the alternative history, the psychic service, the main character, and fantasy of the book. But, the motive for the murder was petty and weak. And, worse, the bubble of escape pleasure reading was burst by the overarching political plot, so unnecessary and unimaginative in an alternative history.

Insightful biography of Aretha Franklin

I enjoyed listening to this biography of Aretha Franklin. I thought it was an insightful look at her life and career. Her family was very important to her as well as her career. She made her music her own. Very importantly, she wanted to make a difference for Black Americans and all people, and she did make a difference through her resources and her voice. She said although she didn't agree with communism, she thought Angela Davis needed to be free because she was a Black woman, and she would contribute resources to that end. I think one of the most interesting things was her denial of death and her ability to prolong her life. She would never talk about death, and died without a will, so everything went to her four sons equally.
