Good Story
Revisado: 11-28-22
I listened to this story during a road trip and although it was sort of predictable, I didn't even guess the ending. The narrator was a bit slow and had a softer voice but I just sped up the audio and I was fine. I liked that the story took place in a different time where women weren't always believed or protected not even from well meaning family and community members. Hope this gets made into a mini-series because it has all the elements of true crime, nostalgia and coming of age.

Historia
In the summer of 2006, Emma Price watched helplessly as her six-year-old son's red coat was fished out of the River Ouse. It was the tragic story of the year - a little boy, Aiden, wandered away from school during a terrible flood, fell into the river, and drowned. His body was never recovered. Ten years later Emma has finally rediscovered the joy in life...until Aiden returns.

Not a thriller...or a good story.
Revisado: 12-21-21
The end reveal is beyond far fetched. The main character bathers on and on saying the same things over and over again. I connected with none of the characters all of them were so boring - even the kid who was kidnapped. I listened to the last part of the book on 2x speed. Would never recommend this book to anyone...hopefully this story will fade from my memory soon.

Another winner for Liane Moriarty
Revisado: 05-28-20
Liane Moriarty is a really good storyteller and her characters are never one dimensional. She also really good at creating moral dilemma's where there is no right answer - it's just life. I did have strong opinions about how the book should have gone initially but ultimately was satisfied with how the story unfolded in the end. I also appreciated how she did a little bit of "sliding doors" in the epilogue as it was very generous of her because so I didn't do any additional imagining about what if's. Overall a good story that was worth the credit.

A very interesting story with a twist. Since it was a short listen, I went back an listened to the first few chapters again and was able to gain more onsite into the story since I knew how it would end.
I thought the narrators voice was a bit slow so I just sped up the audio and that fixed it.

Historia
Cassie Forrest isn't surprised to learn that the day she’s decided to get her life together is also the day the world ends. After all, she’s been on a self-imposed losing streak since her survivalist parents died: she’s stopped painting, broken off her engagement to Adrian and dated a real jerk. Rectifying her mistakes has to wait, however, because Cassie and her friends have just enough time to escape Brooklyn for her parents’ cabin before Bornavirus LX turns them into zombies, too.

very entertaining
Revisado: 02-27-20
Sometimes books about the zombie apocalypse will have rules that make no sense and characters who make random insane choices. Of all the stories about zombies that I've come across, this one seems most realistic. I love the writing and the narrator - I can see what they are describing perfectly in my mind. It was so good it took me only a few days to finish.

Historia
At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. The story is told by Cyril’s son Danny, as he and his older sister, the brilliantly acerbic and self-assured Maeve, are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother.

A good story from Ann Patchett. She always delivers. Tom Hanks was an amazing narrator. I plan on getting a copy of the book and reading because I think it will be a completely different experience.

Awesome! Participation is required.
Revisado: 09-05-18
I enjoyed the content - I've been needing to hear this for some time now. I also bought the book version - which was helpful in following along. This isn't just a story - to get something out of it you must participate. I like Gabrielle's message and am interested in seeing her speak or attend a workshop. As far as the information she's giving, none of it is ever really new is it? Gabrielle Bernstein just makes it relatable for me - and that's all that matters. I must admit, two attempts and I've yet to complete the entire 40 days, usually petering out between day 7 and 10 but that's ok - I can just try again. Next time I'll involve my sisters and friends and see what happens. Side note: Speeding up the audio is a game changer!! Non fiction listens can be hard but changing the speed to 1.25 or 1.5 made it a breeze to get through.

Just ok
Revisado: 09-05-18
Ok, I don't know what I was expecting. I was following the narrator with this one which is usually a good gamble but didn't quite pay off this time. It was interesting to see into the mind of a psychopath, I guess? Not my usual type of book. But it passed the time. I won't continue with this genre for audio consumption.

Historia
Bono met his wife in high school, Park says. So did Jerry Lee Lewis, Eleanor answers. I’m not kidding, he says. You should be, she says, we’re 16. What about Romeo and Juliet? Shallow, confused, then dead. I love you, Park says. Wherefore art thou, Eleanor answers. I’m not kidding, he says. You should be. Set over the course of one school year in 1986, this is the story of two star-crossed misfits - smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love.

First of all I read this a couple years back while on vacation - on my teeny iPhone screen. I actually highlighted some scenes because it was so sweet! It takes me back to the 80's of big hair, walk mans, gym class and hating your home life. Rainbow Rowell captures teen angst perfectly. The audiobook did not disappoint and can't wait for the film version.

Historia
Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

Good Solid Story
Revisado: 09-05-18
Gillian Flynn really knows how to write women characters who have serious f*d issues and this doesn't disappoint. It was a good story and while I stayed engaged the entire time - there are just too many good books out right now - wouldn't have been my top choice for the credit but a decent listen. I'm learning that I'd rather consume Gillian Flynn in book form where the anxiety forms within my imagination.
