Historia
The Arka have chosen their champion, and now he must lead them to the top of the world—The Spine, where the black mountains belch fire, and where the battle against cataclysm will take place upon the ice. As they travel north in a warship clad in iron, the Krauslung they leave behind is crumbling. Not under the onslaught of the girl and her daemons, but from within, under the force of greed and poisonous ambition. It seems there are too many battles to fight. Now, with the Sirens silent, the north in uproar, and the responsibility mounting, Emaneska's champion must face a choice.

Whale watching will never seem the same!
Revisado: 09-27-23
Fantastic.
Very few books have ever made me weep.
But the chorus of men upon the Waveblade holding true to their promise to repay the orcas for their help was so moving. I won’t spoil it for anyone …. All I will say is that I am glad I was listening to this as an audiobook. It brought me to tears for a good 15 minutes.
I had to stop listening and gather my wits before I could continue again. Beautiful writing, moving and certainly like nothing I have ever read before in a epic fantasy.
Bravo.
Ben Galley has a new fan girl.
Looking forward to starting the Scalussen series

Historia
In the wake of the Battle of Krauslung, the world has changed. For the darker. For the stranger. Magic swells like a storm, spilling from the stunned lips of farmboys and milkmaids, burning spell books to cinders at the lightest of touches. As Krauslung unknowingly balances on a knife-edge, tension mounts. Insidious whispers have begun to spread, drawing new enemies to the surface. Discontent, fear, betrayal...it seems that the girl is not the only enemy Emaneska faces.

Farden may be my new favorite antihero
Revisado: 09-27-23
Some early reviews may have suggested that the books or the writing or the story is simply rehashing the same old fantasy tropes… I dare anyone to read through this entire series and maintain that claim.
I LOVE these stories and these characters and each book draws them closer to my heart regardless if they are like able or not. I am attached emotionally.
The world of Emaneska would make for SUCH a great DnD campaign I can’t wait to read the Scalussen series.

And it continues …
Revisado: 09-27-23
Diving right back in after finishing the first book in this series I continued to enjoy Galley’s take on the genre and world building.
As relationships are formed and strengthened (or weakened) I have enjoyed discovering more about the characters and the magic, the territories and the alliances that exist in Emaneska.
The narrator is fabulous!

Historia
Five scholars of Arfell have been assassinated. A spellbook has gone missing – a powerful summoning manual from the time of elves and fire-born daemons. The Arkmages are running out of time and options, and the world is once again on the brink of war with the Siren dragon-riders. It falls to Farden – one of the Arka's most powerful yet troubled Written mages – to keep Emaneska from falling into chaos.

Sticks to the ribs epic fantasy!
Revisado: 09-27-23
I can’t say enough great things about Ben Galley and his Emaneska Series starting with “The Written.” I am a long time fantasy/mythic fiction lover (Tolkien, Martin, Rothfuss, Gaiman). Galley’s writing style and take on the genre is engaging and immersive. His characters feel dimensional in a way that allows the reader to become attached to them emotionally and the world he has created feels as though there is so much more one could explore if given the time and opportunity to linger.
Thank you Ben Galley for welcoming me into this new world!

Historia
The recession has left the world exhausted. Crime is rising; financial institutions across the world have collapsed, and most governments are now in debt to The Bank, a company created by the world's wealthiest men. But Detective Inspector Cass Jones has enough on his plate without worrying about the world at large. His marriage is crumbling, he's haunted by the deeds of his past, and he's got the high-profile shooting of two schoolboys to solve - not to mention tracking down a serial killer who calls himself the Man of Flies.

Great sci-fi/horror twists on a traditional copper thriller.

Love the genre bending in this well written novel. This was the first book I have read by this author and I really enjoyed her nuanced and delicate handling of the emotional aspects of each character as well as her ability to deftly carve large swaths of gruesome horror and anticipatory curiosity.
I must say however, this audiobook, I think was especially enjoyable due to the work of it's narrator, Tristan Gemmill. I listen to a good deal of audio books, including full cast narration, and I don't think I have ever heard a performance that has been as good as this. He read each character with such depth and emotion and the accents and voices we all so very different. It really was a PERFORMANCE.
Truly outstanding !
I'm looking forward to book 2.
