Historia
In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people'" (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.

The readers voice at time sounded like a computer reading the text. It made it seem more like being lectured to, rather than being informed.

Historia
In the military, a field manual provides instructions in simple, clear, step-by-step language to help soldiers complete their mission. In the civilian sector, books offer information on everything from fixing a leaky faucet to developing an effective workout program to cooking a good steak. Leadership Strategy and Tactics explains how to take leadership theory, quickly translate that theory into applicable strategy, and then put leadership into action at a tactical level. This audiobook is the solution that leaders at every level need.

I’ve been a police officer for 25 years and a police sergeant for two separate agencies. Wish I had this information earlier in my career. I will recommend this for the officers in my command to help them move up to the next level and utilize the leadership skills in this book to become a better leader.

It discusses how to successfully uphold the law and not lose your mind in the process.

Every recruit should read this book
Revisado: 09-30-19
As a 25 year law enforcement veteran who served as a patrol officer, detective, patrol sergeant, firearms and defensive tactics instructor, I couldn’t agree more with the information provided in this book. Many of the opinions and advice provided in this book I wholeheartedly agree with and the ones that I’ve never heard before, I learned from and have adopted. I wish I would’ve had this book back in 1995 when I started.

Historia
In Las Vegas to cover a motorcycle race, Raoul Duke (Thompson) and his attorney Dr. Gonzo (inspired by a friend of Thompson) are quickly diverted to search for the American dream. Their quest is fueled by nearly every drug imaginable and quickly becomes a surreal experience that blurs the line between reality and fantasy. But there is more to this hilarious tale than reckless behavior, for underneath the hallucinogenic facade is a stinging criticism of American greed and consumerism.

I grew up in the wrong time and place for this book
Revisado: 01-26-16
I heard a lot about this book over the years and decided to give it a chance at 39 years old. I have also read Mr. Thompson's Hells Angel book and enjoyed the writing. I think this book would have been a little more relevant to me had I grown up in the 60's and 70's. I found myself unable to shut it off even though I didn't relate well to the insane drug induced lives these characters lead. I think that some parallels can be drawn from then to now however when you compare law enforcement knowledge of drug culture vs. the actual drug culture. Some things I think are still misunderstood. Give it a chance for sure is you haven't done so.

Great stories, didn't need the "application to business" portions
Revisado: 01-21-16
This book had amazing war stories that by themselves opened my mind to the lessons they learned and recognized how those lessons for my daily life. The recall of the dialogue between the Willink, Babin and the corporate folks they teach was not necessary for me. Overall good book.

Historia
For thousands of years, the faithful have honed proselytizing strategies and talked people into believing the truth of one holy book or another. Indeed, the faithful often view converting others as an obligation of their faith - and are trained from an early age to spread their unique brand of religion. The result is a world broken in large part by unquestioned faith. As an urgently needed counter to this tried-and-true tradition of religious evangelism, this audiobook offers the first-ever guide not for talking people into faith - but for talking them out of it.

Fun, entertaining and informative
Revisado: 01-21-16
This book did a good job breaking down the argument against religion. I live and work among mostly Christians, few of which care to engage in meaningful discussions. People who debate using volume, proximity and repetition as their debate style (heard that in a movie once and recognized that debate style). Thanks I would recommend this to anyone interested in opening their mind to new ideas.

Historia
I'm Dying Up Here chronicles the collective coming of age of the standup comedians who defined American humor during the past three decades. Born early in the Baby Boom, they grew up watching The Tonight Show, went to school during Vietnam and Watergate, migrated en masse to Los Angeles in the mid-1970s, and created an artistic community unlike any before or since. They were arguably the funniest people of their generation, living in a late-night world of sex, drugs, dreams, and laughter.

Great Book
Revisado: 08-20-15
If you ever wanted to know why the Comedy Store is so relevant to the history of comedy this is a book for you. Most of the comics famous today have a Mitzi Shore story of some sort and this explains why. Being from the Midwest I had no idea who Steve Lubetkin was and am sad now that I didn't.
