Frightening and sad, really. Spurs me on to do my own due diligence, researching & double checking things mentioned in this book. Reader did an outstanding job, voice inflection and pace was spot-on. Highly recommended.

Best Relocation Book

I’ve read several books on relocation, & this is the best one I’ve found so far. The reader is outstanding, talks like he’s having a conversation with you—the one oddity I noticed is how he pronounces “bilingual” but it’s not a major detractor.

I like the author’s blunt honesty about the pros & cons of various countries & regions, many of which I honestly would have never in a million years considered, before reading this book.

Definitely recommended, in combination with other sources of course, on any place you’re considering moving to. I plan to follow this author’s blog & website, to keep abreast of the most recent info. Looking forward to any new editions of this book he might write too!

Awesome Sequel, Even Better than the First Book

If you have any interest in France, have ever studied the language (or not), have ever lived somewhere in Europe, or just wondered what it might be like to live in France and feel like like an ignorant, silly American living overseas, this is the book for you! So so funny, I laughed all the way through! Couldn’t stop listening. The reader for the author’s first book was fantastic, but this reader is absolutely perfect, so good that I want to listen to other books read by him. I have the kindle copy of this book, but I’m going to buy a paper copy too because I’m interested in the food and other French-only references made in the book, and my extremely weak and very outdated French skills couldn’t make out what the reader was saying in the audiobook version most of the time.

I’ll be honest, I don’t at all agree with the author’s strong leftist political leanings, but it doesn’t detract from the book. If you’re open minded, it’s very interesting to listen to the author’s take on the benefits of socialist medicine and other left-leaning topics related to daily life in Brittany. Highly recommended!

Interesting Plot

I don’t usually read this genre, but the reviews were good so I gave it a shot. I really enjoyed this quick listen, & unlike some other reviewers I didn’t guess the ending. Very enjoyable, recommended. The narration was perfect, too.

Pleasant surprise—loved it!!

Bought this audiobook with very low expectations, after reading the reviews of others. Wanted something somewhat comprehensive on the subject of culture, current events, politics & economics of the Nordic region, although expected to dislike the book based on the assumption that the author’s political leanings are so unlike my own, but was truly pleasantly surprised! Awesome book that fit the bill for what I was looking for, truly fascinating glimpse into all the highly touted so-called happiness & academic perfections listed in tables of international statistics regarding the Scandinavian countries. I learned so many things, especially about the Finns & the Swedes. Changed my mind about wanting to visit these places, including Denmark, although Norway now looks very appealing. This is the first ever audiobook that I am actually going to gift to others, and that’s saying a lot. Definitely recommended, I couldn’t put it down, read nonstop as much as I could to hear what would happen next!

Good book, brief intro to guinea pig purchase & care. Debating whether or not to become a guinea pig owner, I found this helpful & easy to listen to. Wish it had been a bit longer though. Recommended.

If you are studying Dutch, this book is useful to expand your knowledge of verbs and nouns, along with their appropriate articles. Native speaker for correct pronunciation is used. A worthwhile listen.

One of the Best

Fantastic method for learning Dutch, I’ve tried several & this is definitely one of the best out there for independent study. Pronunciation is authentic by a native, who uses two English speaking students, 1 male & 1 female, to tutor & teach. I wish this author had more books out there, at the intermediate & advanced levels, for example. A worthwhile purchase & listen if you want to learn introductory Dutch.
