Historia
Her new job as an on-air reporter in sunny San Diego is a big break for Skyler Ruiz. No more covering small-town softball games or vegetable growing competitions. She’ll be working at the same station as her TV mega-crush and longtime idol, anchorwoman Carolyn McNamara, and that doesn’t hurt either. Unfortunately, people don’t always live up to expectations. Skyler’s hopes of impressing Carolyn are dashed when she discovers Carolyn has little time for newbie reporters and is downright unwelcoming.

Decent book...terrible audio
Revisado: 12-15-24
This has to be the worst produced audio book ever! The audio quality is inconsistent throughout, with random points sounding like it was recorded under water. The narrator also incorrectly pronounced many words.

Not my favorite, but worth a listen...
Revisado: 08-23-24
The story is simple and sweet. The MC's aren't super deep nor do they really develop throughout the story, despite what the author tried to convey (calling a character more mature because she has advanced her career and grown out her hair is pretty silly), but it doesn't take away from the story. I appreciate Abby Craden, she is one of the best narrators, but the voices chosen for these MC's didn't feel like the right choices. The writing is solid, as always from Arias. Overall, it's worth a listen.

The narrator seriously takes away from a good story...
Revisado: 08-09-24
The book is good, but definitely would be better to read it instead of slogging through this terrible narration. The narrator can't pronounce the "ng" at the end of words and it is extremely distracting and annoying. "Sinin" instead of singing...ugh it's terrible!!

I really wanted to like it but...
Revisado: 07-25-24
While the story itself is interesting, the execution was underwhelming. As the story progressed, it felt like romance was being forced onto the MC's...the author failed to build any chemistry between the characters romantically, and even the sexual relationship felt off with Janet's perceived confusion over the nature of their sexual relationship. Thank god for Anastasia Whatley because if the narration wasn't good I wouldn't have been able to finish this.

Historia
The most captivating woman in the city has walked into my office. Hair as red as carnal passion, and a body I can’t stop fantasizing about. She doesn’t know it yet, but I’m about to ask her out. And she will say yes, because she won’t have a reason to say no. When my conquest is complete, I intend to forget all about her. She is, after all, the reason for my pain. She is the source of my breakup, and the woman my good-for-nothing ex seduced. I will not fall for her, no matter how tempting she is. It’s not becoming to be The Other Woman, after all.

Revisado: 07-20-24
This book was a pleasant surprise for me pretty early in...I really didnt expect this to be very good, but I was hooked after the first couple chapters. The authors choice to have the MC's tell the story to the reader (4th wall breaks and all), topped off with the amazing narration make this an easy book to get lost in.

Good story, strange narration choice...
Revisado: 07-01-24
I loved this book, it was well written and the characters were great. I didn't enjoy the choice to have 2 different narrators. Each narrator on their own is great (Lori Prince is actually amazing, she's my fave!!) but the switch between the 2 was distracting...they have very different voices so it was hard to reconcile the characters as having 2 different voices.

Didn't read like a Lee Winter book
Revisado: 06-28-24
I have read all of Lee Winter's books and usually I love them, but this one was not on the same level as Winter's other books. The rival hotel chain war was semi interesting, but not enough to carry the book...and the romance couldn't carry it eaither. The MC's never really build any chemistry...they just hate each other and are attracted to each other before they take a vacation together and decide to merger their careers and be in love.

Historia
Since A-List actress and Hollywood's sweetheart Wren Acker came out, not only is she at the top of the acting world; she's also crush number one for her queer fanbase. Loving life, loving her job, loving her cat-everything is fantastic. Except that lack of any kind of private life. When a car accident brings her to the ER, the bottom falls out of her world when she realizes that reserved Doctor Taylor, her physician, is Madison Taylor from camp way back when she was a kid. And boy, does Madison still hold a well-earned grudge for how that all ended.

Sweet story with some serious themes
Revisado: 06-13-24
Overall a very good book, it was funny and sweet, the characters were good, and the themes of grief and hollywood sexism and homophobia were done well. The narration was my biggest issue, as the reader read very slow...I always listen between x1.3 to x1.5, but for this narrator I had to go up to x2.

Revisado: 06-12-24
This story was messy and kind of all over the place. It wasnt a strong story, mostly because the last act of the book was super disjointed and kind of a let down.

A new favorite!
Revisado: 06-01-24
This is not only another great book by Haley Cass, I think it's her best! Her ability to write emotion better than any other sapphic author (at least in my opinion) really shines in this story of best friends to lovers...and Lori Prince is the perfect person to voice all those amazing emotions! I have never finished an audio book and wanted to immediately listen again, but that's how I feel after this one, I will be restarting it as soon as I'm done typing. This is definitely going in my top 3 favorites list!
