I first read Angela's Ashes" shortly after it's release. I loved the book. I fell in love, so to speak, with its author. In fact I saw Frank McCourt discuss his book at the NY public library (42nd Street Branch). I finally had a voice for the book. (Needless to say I saw the film .) I recently joined audiobooks and was delighted to see "Angela's Ashes" listed. The audiobook is read by it's wonderful, now sadly deceased, author Frank McCourt. I should say it's perfectly right. The book, if possible, is even more alive. A must listen.

I hadn't planned to purchase Burt Reynolds' bio. It just happened while scouring through the list of available books, I should be clearer audiobooks. I kept going back to his bio for some reason. Once I started to listen I couldn't stop. Over the past week my husband has probably thought I was having an affair. I have been sneaking off to odd places with my phone in tow to listen to Burt for a few more minutes. I was always a fan. I didn't realize I was, but I was. I remember Burt from his days on the Tonight Show. The first time I saw him I must of gotten up because I was ill. My dad was in the living room watching Burt on TV. I was smitten right there! Some time later I convinced a friend to see Silent Movie with me. Now she was smitten as well. We were probably his two biggest elementary school fans. As for Burt's bio, it's honest. His chapter titles are titles of friends, Family members, lovers. He then discusses each one in depth. At the end of the book he ties it all together beautifully with a synopsis of his life and his thoughts about it. I don't want to give too much away, however at times during the audiobook he became emotional. It was deeply touching. It was a quick read/listen. Extremely enjoyable for me. I gave the book a nearly perfect score not because it's the best book ever written, but it was a life well lead. Hoping from more from Burt and truly glad he's found peace in his life. Thank you Mr. Reynolds:)

I bought this book, the actual thing with words and paragraphs and stuff. Ok, it was the Kindle version, but it still had words and and paragraphs and stuff. It was over a year ago and to be frank I had trouble getting through the book. I was interested in the story. And I certainly am a fan of the musician writing the story. It was frustrating. And then about 2 weeks ago while picking up the book again, OK my Kindle, and getting through only another few pages it occurred to me to look for this as an audiobook. I did and I found it. This is a book to be listened to. The story really is quite wonderful. If you're interested in jazz, if you're interested in music, if you are specifically interested in John and his dad Bucky, well audio is the way to go. It was a blast. Having been a singer and being near the same circles as John (just near, as in nearby, no where near his success!) it was fun to read about different people I've met, seen perform, and worked in rooms next to the rooms they were working in;), I enjoyed hearing about all the back room goings-on. I think some of the insight into Sinatra's latter years and his relationship with his son, along with the anecdotes about Rosie Clooney were among the best. ... and Bucky's "higher, higher, lower, lower", had me laughing aloud.! This was a wonderful book, Ok wonderful audiobook ... a definite read or listen. Well done, bravo, Mr. Pizzarelli, both your writing and living a life well lived :)
