Dark Sun in title only.
Revisado: 11-21-20
Generic fantasy read if you dont know anything about dark sun. Avoid if you do however as the book has nothing to do with the setting. Water/liquid is abundant and easily availible, metal is commonplace and metal weapons wielded by most antagonists, the heat isnt a problem, and magic is used left and right with impunity in front of most the characters and public with no consequences. Not Dark Sun.

Historia
Some of the parchment pages were the color of cream, thick and substantial, made to last many, many lifetimes. Other pages were thin and desiccated, positively yellow from age, and crackled alarmingly as Van Richten turned them over. There were no ornate illuminations, no fussy borders, only lines of plain text in hard black ink. The flowing handwriting was a bit difficult to follow at first; the writer's style of calligraphy had not been in common use for three hundred years.

The novel pays much respect to the source material
Revisado: 06-30-20
However the narrator could have put a better performance in. Not bad by any means but could have been much livelier in their narration to create more immersion like James Marsters.

Historia
Miskatonic University has a long-whispered reputation of being strongly connected to all things occult and supernatural. From the faculty to the students, the fascination with other-worldly legends and objects runs rampant. So, when Carter Weston's professor Dr. Thayerson asks him to search a nearby village for a book that is believed to control the inhuman forces that rule the Earth, Incendium Maleficarum, the student doesn't hesitate to begin the quest.

Decent Tale
Revisado: 11-29-17
I enjoyed the mini-tales in this one more than the overall tale. I also find the authors christian influences in the mythos to confuse and muddy the whole story up.

Great Ravenloft book.
Revisado: 04-18-17
This book really encompasses the setting and characters of Ravenloft. Though it is one of those books that makes more sense on a second reading to catch those little details you didnt know were important till later in the story.
My only negative was the narrator could have been better but unfortunetly frequently goes into monotone drumming through the story. I would repurchase this if they used someone more talented like Sean Magan, Wayne June or James Marsters.

Nothing to do with Ravenloft setting. Bad Story, bad narater. Skip this one, it dosnt even have anything to do with the DnD settings or classes or how magic works.

Breathless and painstakingly researched, this is a stunning debut mystery in which Sherlock Holmes unmasks Jack the Ripper. Lyndsay Faye perfectly captures all the color and syntax of Conan Doyle’s distinctive nineteenth-century London.

Didnt mesh well.
Revisado: 11-28-16
The narator is fantastic but the actual Ripper character comes off more intelligent and resourceful then Sherlock, Watson, and Moriarty working together. It ruins the suspension of disbelief.

While i enjoyed the story the narrators frequent mispronouncings and mistakes while being rather monotone create some diffuculty immersing yourself in it.

Story is very classic of early Bloch. Narrator could have used some work though. I wish Wayne June would narrate this trillogy.

good till the end, the narator needs some varience
Revisado: 04-14-16
overall good but the last few chapters were done in a rush that felt like the author was just putting thing together to meet a deadline and be done. the narator used the same inflections and accents for too many of the characters that it leads to alot of confusion regarding whose speaking.
