Historia
An esteemed professor of biology at Wheaton College, John Kricher leads a fascinating discussion of the approximately 10,000 species of birds that share our world. In these engaging lectures, Kricher expands on such topics as bird anatomy, the mechanics of flight, migration, reproduction, and song. The professor's lively presentation demonstrates how understanding the traits, life cycle, and evolution of birds is critical for an understanding of the origins and evolution of life on earth - and why conservation plays a vital role in the environment's delicate balance.

An Extraordinary Work on the Science of Birds
Revisado: 07-01-21
Professor John Kricher has written a wildly informative work on the science of birds. It is the best audio work on this subject that I have ever heard. He is a wonderful presenter, his chapters logically flow from one to the next, and his work is easy to understand. I wish I were a student of his since he is an outstanding professor. I would take all his courses.

Each episode begins with a bird call or song, followed by fascinating ornithological detail about its owner. This collection contains every edition from the first series, British Birds.

Sample is MISLEADING!
Revisado: 06-20-20
The narrative is only by one person and each bird description is 90 seconds whereas on the sample, you hear the voices of famous people and the descriptions are longer e.g. David Attenborough talking about the nightingale. Even worse is the grouping of all the birds on the tape, not by the seasons but by the whole year. This makes it impossible to find any bird at least on my iPod that you might want to listen to again.
Good material but too brief and not searchable. The sample was totally deceptive. If I had known the real presentation of the work, I would not have bought it. I am VERY disappointed by a seeming bait and switch.

Highly Entertaining and Well Read
Revisado: 04-02-11
Fast action in a leisurely setting. The heroine is not like Lisabeth Salander re: computer, chess, and photographic memory, but is very smart and is one tough chick. The main area of action is throughout equatorial Africa making it exotic. Hilary Huber read the book well speaking calmly while all hell is breaking loose. Not believable in parts, but still captivating. The book would make a great film with the action star being a female for once instead of the usual male.

Historia
Myron Bolitar has always dreamed about the femme fatale walking into his office and asking for help. The woman standing in his doorway has killer curves all right: She’s eight months pregnant, which kind of ruins the fantasy. Former tennis star Suzze T and her rock star husband, Lex, are both clients, and over the years Myron has negotiated his share of contracts for the power pair. But now Lex has disappeared and Suzze is in tears, fearing the online rumors questioning the baby’s paternity have driven away Lex.

Revisado: 03-27-11
Mr. Coben is a master at this genre. His stories are well written, fast paced, hilarious yet intriguing. He gets better with each book and never could his works be called dull or mediocre. A great story combined with an inspired reading by Mr. Weber make this a top Audible selection for those seeking entertainment.

Ken Follett's World Without End was a global phenomenon, a work of grand historical sweep beloved by millions of readers and acclaimed by critics. Fall of Giants is his magnificent new historical epic. The first novel in The Century Trilogy, it follows the fates of five interrelated families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they move through the world-shaking dramas of the First World War, the Russian Revolution, and the struggle for women's suffrage.

Wildly entertaining and educational too
Revisado: 10-16-10
I primarily listen to books on tape as I jog or take a long car trip. With a work like this, I am sorry when my exercise or trip is done. Mr. Follett is a master story teller, and if some complain about his politics, they are missing the point of this entertaining and gripping book. I can hardly wait to read the next in the trilogy. The reading by John Lee is a perfect complement to the book.

Revisado: 09-18-10
Incredible book with great plot turns, vividly realized characters and unforgettable scenes. Bravura writing. You will be in awe as you listen to it. In addition, the narrator, David LeDoux, is exceptional. He caught the essence of the characters perfectly. A great book with great reading.

Historia
Written at the request of Charles Dickens, North and South is a book about rebellion that poses fundamental questions about the nature of social authority and obedience. Gaskell expertly blends individual feeling with social concern and her heroine, Margaret Hale, is one of the most original creations of Victorian literature. When Margaret Hale's father leaves the Church in a crisis of conscience she is forced to leave her comfortable home in the tranquil countryside of Hampshire....

Narrator Annoying: Text Good
Revisado: 06-27-10
Ms. Stevenson has such a breathy voice that it makes the reading wildly affected and indistinct when listening in a car. Due to the flatness of the pronunciation, if there is any background noise, such as when driving, it makes it hard to discern words. In addition, the reading sounds so much like someone trying to be very upper class that it is very off putting.
The text itself is interesting but the reading is awful.

Not Great and Reading Indistinct at Times
Revisado: 06-20-10
I like Connelly and Coben better in this genre, but story was interesting. Reading was muddled and too soft making it very hard to hear when listening in a car. Probably would have enjoyed it more if I didn't have such difficulty hearing it.

Great Series with Wonderful Ending
Revisado: 06-05-10
A moving ending to a thrilling tale. It is tragic that Larsson died so young and will not be able to finish the other 6 novels he outlined.
The reading of all three audible books in the series was superb and enhanced the narrative.
Well done.
