Historia
Keera is a killer. As the King’s Blade, she is the most talented spy in the kingdom. And the king’s favored assassin. When a mysterious figure moves against the Crown, Keera is called upon to hunt down the so-called Shadow. She tracks her target into the magical lands of the Fae, but Faeland is not what it seems—and neither is the Shadow. Keera is shocked by what she learns and can’t help but wonder who her enemy truly is: the King that destroyed her people or the Shadow that threatens the peace.

I tried
Revisado: 03-02-24
4 hrs into the book and I just can't seem to get into the story. I so looked forward to starting the book.
I suppose it's too slow? Maybe reading A Court Of Thrones and Roses ruined this book for. I am huge fan of ACOTAR.

NOT about Bob Marley
Revisado: 02-13-24
This book is more about what was happening in Jamaica while he was growing up. There are stories of Bob Nesta Marley throughout the book but I want to know about Bob Marley not a history of Jamaica. I don't think I can finish this book. Rarely do I not finish a book.

Historia
Helen Colijn's account of her wartime experiences is a window into a largely overlooked dimension of World War II, the imprisonment of women and children in Southeast Asia by the Japanese and how these prisoners of war responded to their dire circumstances. The conditions were harsh, terrible. Food was scarce, medicine unavailable. Held in captivity for three and a half years, more than a third of the women in Helen's camp died of disease or starvation.

Not about the movie
Revisado: 11-29-23
I purchased this book thinking it was about Paradise Road the movie. The other book about the orchestra is a book not available on audiobooks called White Coolies.
This book mentions the orchestra a few times and talks about some of the hardships the ladies had in the orchestra.
This book is about one Dutch lady and how she and her sisters lived and survived during that time period.
Very disappointed.

Not what I thought
Revisado: 09-20-23
I thought this book was about Bob Marley.
it's a book about people who knew and played with him, Not neccesarily about Bob Marley.
I'm disappointed but the author gave some suggestions of other Bob Marley books, one in particular one his mother wrote. I'll be looking that one up shortly.

Determined to get rid of anyone who stood in his way, he unleashed a plan of terror that was more devastating and violent than the Nichols family could have ever imagined.

Ishi stumbled into the 20th century on the morning of August 29, 1911, when, desperate with hunger and terrified of the white murderers of his family, he was found in the corral of a slaughterhouse near Oroville, California.

Bestselling author Torey Hayden's novel is a fascinating study of a fractured family, a troubled child, and a psychiatrist's attempts to rescue them. Conor, aged nine, arrives in the play therapy room of child psychiatrist James Innes with the diagnosis "autistic". His mother Laura, an aloof, enigmatic novelist, can't handle him. His rancher father, embroiled in divorcing Laura, does not feel there is anything wrong with Conor. His six-year-old sister Morgana insists he really does see ghosts.

a disappointed fan
Revisado: 07-18-22
I am a fan of Torey and have read some of her other books. I was excited to start this book and walked away very disappointed. It was boring and not really about the child. He was a key to the story but the book focused on a fictional story and the mother. skip this book.

Historia
Stephen Smith is the boy who did not exist. Born out of wedlock in the early 1960s, Steve's parents - both devout Catholics - had felt so 'shamed' by their son's illegitimate birth that they hid him away from the world by locking him in the cellar...for 13 years. Apart from a few admissions to hospital as a result of his 'imprisonment', Steve remained in the coal cellar of the family home where he was deprived of daylight, his childhood, school and human contact until he'd reached his teenage years.

Historia
Dublin, 1962. Within the gated grounds of the convent of the Sisters of the Holy Redemption lies one of the city's Magdalen Laundries. Once places of refuge, the laundries have evolved into grim workhouses. Some inmates are "fallen" women - unwed mothers, prostitutes, or petty criminals. Most are ordinary girls whose only sin lies in being too pretty, too independent, or tempting the wrong man. Among them is 16-year-old Teagan Tiernan, sent by her family when her beauty provokes a lustful revelation from a young priest.
