The story was interesting until the moment I figured out the ending was going to be the same as most books in the genre. And that was within the first 15 minutes of the book.

The main character's husband was unexpectedly murdered on their property, but she wasn't particularly upset over the situation. There was no grieving. She just kind of went on with her life. Cried a few times and returned back to the murder house as soon as she could. Went back to work right away.

There was a weird addition of a shelter dog that was completely unrealistic. No one adopts a dog that's been in a shelter for three months that becomes the most well mannered, well behaved instant therapy dog. The author obviously doesn't know anything about roles and rules of support animals either.

The narrator sounded like a dramatic Disney princess, but this wasn't a Disney story. I upped the speed to 1.15 and it was much better. I listen to books while I'm headed off to sleep. Some books keep me up a little longer because they are so good I don't want to fall asleep. This was not one of them.

Difficult to finish

The book moves along well until the last 2 hours. Most of that time is spent feeling remorse that is overkill for the perceived crime. In the 21st century most of our mothers don't send us away for three months because of a single indiscretion. There is a weird sex scene at the very end of the book that feels like it was just tossed in because it was a requirement. There are a lot of grammatical errors and odd word choices. The phrase, "Tipped his head once" is used a million times as an acknowledgement as if we're in the Old Old West.

The narration is. Horrible. If you are bothered. By choppy sentences this book is. Not for you.

Phenomenal book

I'm currently in a taboo romance phase and this certainly fits into that category. The characters are developed so well that their every move is utterly fascinating. The story is both heartbreaking and disturbing with ribbons of hope and love woven in. This book is ABSOLUTELY NOT for everyone because there are violent and disturbing parts, and I know there will be lots of hate and bad reviews, but anyone in search of a forbidden romance with strong erotic scenes, this is your book.

Great story…until the end

Even though this story is built upon the horrible lives of two of the main characters and probably isn’t relatable to a lot of readers, it sucks you in and doesn’t let go. It’s graphic, raw, well written, intriguing, and not at all like most books out there. I like when I stumble upon something outside the norm. Unfortunately, for me, the last 15 - 20 minutes were far too dramatic and somewhat unbelievable. Since the ending left me feeling annoyed instead of the way one feels when they finish a good book. I gave 3 stars.

This author is either hit or miss

I've purchased four books from this author. I absolutely LOVED The Ex and The Housewarming, but returned The Baby Shower and struggled through this one by skipping ahead a lot. The Proposal didn't grab my attention in the first chapter to make me want to listen and gave me no reason to care about either Pippa or Ryan at any point in time. I think I'm going to remember the two good books and put this author in the past.

Not great writing

The story was okay, but the technical aspect of the writing wasn't great. More imagery would've been helpful to paint a picture of the party and the 21 year old character in my head. The story gave us a good idea of how their lives unfolded, but the predictable and boring ending seemed like it was just slapped on without a lot of thought. The narrator did a nice job.

I love how these books explain what was going on in Christians' head while Ana was off doing her thing. When she snuck off to save Mia, when he ran off to Elena, when she was out drinking with Kate and on and on. I always think, hmmm, so that's where he was, or hmmm, that's what was going on in his head, It's a fulfilling book.

First of all, I'm not giving this book a bad review because I stumbled upon some erotica and was appalled by its existence. I love erotic books. This particular one had to be returned because I couldn't make it through to the end. The thing that drove me nuts was everyone was constantly swallowing lumps in their throats. All the time. How many lumps can one person form and swallow in their throats? When both of the main characters swallowed a lump in two consecutive sentences, I had to stop. The build up to the sex was great, but the actual sex fell flat. It was way too quick and not very descriptive. There are way better erotic books out there. Life is too short for boring books.

Narration was great. Especially Sofia.

Loved the story - Not thrilled with the ending

I loved this book all the way until the very last sentence. There were a lot of thought provoking statements about love and relationships that really resonated with me. I did find myself a little bit confused with the timeline throughout the book, but it all made sense in the end. The last sentence didn't ruin the whole book for me. I really wanted her to follow her heart (or maybe it was my heart) but.....
