Love it!
Revisado: 11-21-19
Satisfaction with the ending? Did the end leave me feeling satisfied with warm fuzzies?
Yes! This ending wrapped up beautifully and left me very satisfied.
Intelligent Heroine: Was the heroine intelligent?
Yes! Sybil was witty, sharp, and strong! I loved this Douglas lass!
Honorable Hero: Was the hero honorable?
Most of the time. Near the end, we uncover a HUGE lie that made this character a hateable hypocrite for several chapters!
Writing Skill: Did the author depict a historically accurate time period?
I loved Mallory’s writing style! Historical accurate while changing some historical facts just enough to mind out modern views against pedophile! Thank you!
Frustration Level: Did events in this book create an on-going sense of frustration that challenged me to finish the book?
Very high! Sybil had a secret that was kept from the reader up until Chapter 30! When the secret was finally revealed, it was minor with a whole lot of pomp over nothing. I HATE books where there are secrets between lovers that create unnecessary problems.
Plot: Was the story engaging?
This plot was engaging! Loved this plot!
Loveable Characters: Did I love the characters enough to remember them?
Very loveable!
Misandry: Did the author use her characters to promote man bashing?
No! This book had no man bashing/man hating! Thank you, Mallory!
Communication: Did the couple create their own problems with their own failure to communicate?
Very little pisses me off more than a lack of communication between lovers. I hate drama and problems that arise only when either party refuses to listen and/or talk. Ugh! The lack of communication in this novel was too high for my liking. It got in the way of my enjoying the book.
Healthy loving relationship: Did this story promote a healthy depiction of love?
Yes…most of the time. Once they started talking and the lies stopped, Rory and Sybil had a very healthy, loving relationship.

The "Hero" cheats on his wife!
Revisado: 11-17-19
Seeeeeriously...*angry eyes*
Oh, did I hate this book. The wife arrives at the keep, which is so filthy, she can't sit down without sitting in gunk. She insists it be keep cleaned. The husband is so childish, that he REFUSES to bathe.
"It's dangerous to wash kilts because the dirt makes them waterproof."
BULL SHIT! I knit shawls with 100% wool! Wool IS waterproof *censors herself from attacking the author* That's why the Scots use wool! That's why Irish wool coats are so popular! Because they're WATERPROOF AND WARM! Dumb bitch. You CAN wash wool. You can't DRY it because it will shrink! And then when the wife refuses his bed because he's disgusting, he cheats on her and goes to another woman!
Seriously. I hate this book so much! I won't be reading the rest of the series.

Hard to get into...but then...
Revisado: 11-17-19
(I swear I already wrote this review)
I have been to Renaissance fairs. I know what they are like. I got this book six months ago, tried to read it, but the rules for the Ren Fair are bull shit. I couldn't finish it.
Fast forward six months, I was out of credits, out of funds for books, and was reduced to returning to this. I stomached through the BS Ren Fair, but then...
OMG I LOVED THIS BOOK! I am so glad I finished it! I went on to the rest of the series and it is now one of my favorite series! LOVE THIS!

How stupid can you get?
Revisado: 11-17-19
Seriously. Can a woman BE any more stupid? She clearly has no idea what sex is, but she knows enough to petition the king who orders her husband to consummate the marriage. She STILL doesn't know what sex is. And still, maids explain, people describe, and STILL she doesn't get it. Maybe she's a visual learner? The woman in this is too stupid for me to enjoy the book.
