My favorite so far from Tana French
Revisado: 02-05-25
I loved the narrators reading of the rich language, the characters insights and the intriguing mystery. This book is the exact type of book I want to listen to on audible. Such a pleasure. I’ll be after more books by Tana French, don’t you know! And anything narrated by Mr Clark will have my attention. Thank you!

Engrossing Story
Revisado: 01-06-24
The writing was very fluid and the story believable. I listened to it between appointments and chores, every chance I could, and finished in 3 days because I needed to understand what happened. A good story and good writing. Well worthwhile. Thank you for sharing.

Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

Characters who keep on living after the book ends
Revisado: 05-29-23
Sometimes I had to turn it off because the truth in the sadness of humanity and it’s utter ability to abuse what is vulnerable in the world hurt too much. At one point I started to see where we were headed with the loss here and I could hold on. By the end I am crying because I don’t want it to end. But like I said in my intro the characters are still living on. Thank you Barbara KO for really going there and not holding anything back.

Historia
Alma Katsu calls My Heart Is a Chainsaw “a homage to slasher films that also manages to defy and transcend genre.” On the surface is a story of murder in small-town America. But beneath is its beating heart: a biting critique of American colonialism, Indigenous displacement, and gentrification, and a heartbreaking portrait of a broken young girl who uses horror movies to cope with the horror of her own life.

Historia
When a young man is found gruesomely murdered in a London houseboat, it triggers questions about three women who knew him. Laura is the troubled one-night-stand last seen in the victim’s home. Carla is his grief-stricken aunt, already mourning the recent death of yet another family member. And Miriam is the nosy neighbor clearly keeping secrets from the police. Three women with separate connections to the victim. Three women who are – for different reasons – simmering with resentment. Who are, whether they know it or not, burning to right the wrongs done to them.

Historia
One sunny August afternoon, the residents of Cedar Close throw their annual summer barbecue. Children play in the cherry-tree lined street, tables are laden with food, and the wine is flowing. For Laurie Mills, it’s her first time meeting the neighbours. And it’s the first time she discovers her husband, Robert, is having an affair. Cedar Close has always been a nice place to live - a quiet suburban street where everyone looks out for one another and bad things don’t happen. Until late one evening, when Robert Mills is found dead in his bedroom.

Historia
Hawke's narrator is a young man in torment, disgusted with himself after the collapse of his marriage, still half hoping for a reconciliation that would allow him to forgive himself and move on as he clumsily, and sometimes hilariously, tries to manage the wreckage of his personal life with whiskey and sex. What saves him is theater: in particular, the challenge of performing the role of Hotspur in a production of Henry IV under the leadership of a brilliant director, helmed by one of the most electrifying - and narcissistic - Falstaff's of all time.

Historia
She was an all-American girl who became a legend of unparalleled stature. She inspired the adoration of millions, and her life has beguiled generations of fans and fellow artists. The story of Norma Jeane Baker, better known by her studio name, Marilyn Monroe, has been dissected for more than three decades, but never has it been captured in a narrative as breathtaking and transforming as Blonde.

Much more than a sex simple
Revisado: 10-07-22
I mean that. Not just a “sex simple”
Joyce Carol Oates wrote her character into flesh and soul the way an actor, much like Norma Jean as her character, becomes the character. Highly moving to me as an artist. Thank you for the interview at the end too. This exploration of the art forms In the book and possible with Michael well augmented the experience of the book. I look forward to watching the screen representation. Thank you Joyce 😌
