Historia
Celebrated crime master and two-time Edgar Award winner James Lee Burke returns with a gorgeously crafted, brutally resonant chronicle of violence along the Texas-Mexico border. Sheriff Hackberry Holland patrols a small Southwest Texas border town, meting out punishment and delivering justice in his small square of this magnificent but lawless land. When an alcoholic ex-boxer named Danny Boy Lorca begs to be locked up after witnessing a man tortured to death by a group of bandits, Hack and his deputy, Pam Tibbs, slowly extract the Indian man’s gruesome tale.

Once again Michael Crichton gives us his trademark combination of page-turning suspense, cutting-edge technology, and extraordinary research. State of Fear is a superb blend of edge-of-your-seat suspense and thought provoking commentary on how information is manipulated in the modern world.

Entertaining book
Revisado: 10-09-05
I found the book extremely enlightning and exciting. It illustrates what a bunch of kooks occupy the environmental movement and how truly ignorant the elite monied class are in supporting the movement.
I enjoyed it and is a worthwhile audiobook if your not a environmental kook.

so bad couldnt finish
Revisado: 07-22-05
terrible book... only good if you believe everything wrong in the 3rd world is caused by an economist who makes an overly optimistic forcast. the author claims that he and is fellow economist are so important that they can determine the fate of a country. The sad truth is probably no one ever read any of his reports. typical academic thinking what he writes matters.
frankly the author is a legend in his own mind. dont waste your time.

Historia
What would you do if your bank machine couldn't keep track of your account information? Callahan thinks most people would overdraw their accounts, like the 4,000 people who helped themselves to 15 million dollars from the Municipal Credit Union of New York following the September 11 terrorist attacks. America has become a nation of cheaters. Now more than ever, people are bending rules and breaking laws to get what they want.

All Bush's Fault
Revisado: 01-01-05
Typical liberal drivel. Everything that is wrong is GW Bush's fault and taxes need to be raised so there will be a level playing field and no more cheating. Country needs big taxes on luxuary goods so we can achieve what the first luxuary taxes accomplished. Layoffs in those industries. Author looking for a craddle to grave society like Norway with beaucrats making the academically appropriate decisions for the people. Don't waste your time with this nonsense.
