Historia
The story of Napoleon has been written many times. In some versions, he is a military genius, in others a war-obsessed tyrant. Here, historian Adam Zamoyski cuts through the mythology and explains Napoleon against the background of the European Enlightenment and what he was himself seeking to achieve. This most famous of men is also the most hidden of men, and Zamoyski dives deeper than any previous biographer to find him. Beautifully written, Napoleon brilliantly sets the man in his European context.

Not for the average history buff
Revisado: 07-17-19
Although I found the level of detail impressive, it was way too much for a popular biography.

Tony believes that God wants every man to be a world changer. He skillfully takes listeners along a journey through the principles of biblical manhood, exploring how those who live, work, and minister around a kingdom man benefit from his leadership and care. Men will be challenged to fully understand their positions under God as well as their positions over what God has given them.

Solid Truth
Revisado: 06-09-17
I love Tony Evans' message. Christian men do need to step up and take their responsibility seriously. My only disappointment with the book is that Dr. Evans seems to have a hard time reading a book out loud. Even his own book! His reading is dry and stilted compared to his dynamic preaching style. He should have someone else read his books for him.

Historia
The year is 2008 and Samantha Kofer's career at a huge Wall Street law firm is on the fast track - until the recession hits and she gets downsized, furloughed, escorted out of the building. Samantha, though, is one of the "lucky" associates. She's offered an opportunity to work at a legal aid clinic for one year without pay, after which there would be a slim chance that she'd get her old job back. In a matter of days Samantha moves from Manhattan to Brady, Virginia, population 2,200, in the heart of Appalachia, a part of the world she has only read about.

A Woman's book
Revisado: 12-20-16
This is my least favorite Grisham novel. I usually give five stars. It felt like this novel was written for women. Which is not a bad thing. Just not my thing.

Historia
The Jesus People movement was a unique combination of the hippie counterculture and evangelical Christianity. It first appeared in the famed "Summer of Love" of 1967, in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district, and spread like wildfire in Southern California and beyond, to cities like Seattle, Atlanta, and Milwaukee. In 1971 the growing movement found its way into the national media spotlight and gained momentum, attracting a huge new following among evangelical church youth.

Solid research. Decent writing. Dismal reading.
Revisado: 11-03-15
Larry Eskridge is an excellent historian. His research was thorough and his presentation engaging. The only problem with this audiobook is the lack of professionalism in the reader. He did not do his homework in learning pronunciations. He obviously is not for familiar with evangelicalism. The most egregious and grating example is his oft repeated mispronunciation of Calvary. Without fail, he pronounces it cavalry. Biblical names and even the names of books of the Bible are often mispronounced.

Although born to rule, Aidan lives as a scribe in a remote Irish monastery on the far, wild edge of Christendom. Secure in work, contemplation, and dreams of the wider world, a miracle bursts into Aidan's quiet life. He is chosen to accompany a small band of monks on a quest to the fabled city of Byzantium, where they are to present the beautiful and costly hand-illuminated Book of Kells to the emperor of all Christendom.

Historia
This listenable, accessible narrative story of the Protestant Reformation provides a solid grounding in the history of the Reformation and its leading ideas. The and the inclusion of "Questions for Discussion" and "Suggestions for Further Reading" make this book excellent for study groups, or as a refresher "course" for students - and even as a good starting point for those interested in the larger discipline of church history.

Excellent treatment of an important era.

I loved Sunshine's treatment of the theology involved. But I got bogged down in all of the politics and wars.
