Terrible production quality
Revisado: 03-23-25
This story was disjointed. It was not a smooth listen as I could frequently hear the narrator turn pages, an occasional door closing and background conversations.

Historia
William Waters grew up in a house silenced by tragedy, where his parents could hardly bear to look at him, much less love him—so when he meets the spirited and ambitious Julia Padavano in his freshman year of college, it’s as if the world has lit up around him. With Julia comes her family, as she and her three sisters are inseparable: Sylvie, the family’s dreamer, is happiest with her nose in a book; Cecelia is a free-spirited artist; and Emeline patiently takes care of them all.

I wish the timeline/family changes were better defined even if only with a pause or chapter title.

A necessary read!
Revisado: 03-26-24
While I was a teenager and young adult during the war in Vietnam, I was far removed and sheltered from it. My boyfriend then and now husband of 52 years had a very high draft number so he never served. I am grateful for that. Several years ago we visited the Vietnam War Memorial in DC and we stood in front of it with tears in our eyes at the realization of just how many of our generation were lost as a result of such senseless horror. This book honors the brave women and men who were not honored at the time. May God bless each and every one of them. I hope you have peace for the remaining years you have and forgiveness for those of us who did not honor your selfless service upon your return.

Too much repitition
Revisado: 08-19-23
I have read dozens of DS books over the past 40 years. However, they now tend to to be very repetitious in her style. Rather than being an avid fan, I now only read or listen to her stories if I need a “mind clearing” from every day life. Mostly enjoyable but more often than not I get annoyed and say to myself “she just said that same thing three different ways “. Are DS and her editors just trying to up the word count??

Historia
A place you will never forget. Rosamunde Pilcher's Scotland...where the fields flourish with greenery, the bills bloom with purple, and the lochs glitter with the bright blue of the sky. A time you will never forget. September...when the heather is in full flower, the first chill of autumn cools the air, and the countryside stirs with the hunt, balls, dinner parties, and dance. Rosamunde Pilcher's September...a story of homecomings and heartbreaks, friendships, betrayals, forgiveness, and love.

Waste of time
Revisado: 05-18-19
While I wanted to enjoy this story, it was never going to happen. The story is a boring account of several young people leaving their teenage years. Mental illness, mindless sex and suicide are not an entertaining read.
I returned the book.
