Historia
American culture focuses on letting go of grudges and redemption narratives instead of the perpetrator’s obligations or recompense for harmed parties. As survivor communities have pointed out, these emphases have too often only caused more harm. But Danya Ruttenberg knew there was a better model, rooted in the work of the medieval philosopher Maimonides. For Maimonides, upon whose work Ruttenberg elaborates, forgiveness is much less important than the repair work to which the person who caused harm is obligated.

Shift in Perspective
Revisado: 02-18-25
I don't ever think Ruttenberg will read this, but I write this review for them. Ruttenberg, you have made such an impactful book. I was assigned to read this for my college course, and I am forever grateful it was. Different stories to reflect stages within repair, how different levels of communities can work on the path or repentance. I love this book. Thank you, Ruttenberg, for sharing your view on a topic like this. It has forever changed my perspective on my journeys with repair and repentance!
