Historia
Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable, audiobook edition of The Man Who Made Things out of Trees. Robert Penn cut down an ash tree to see how many things could be made from it. After all, ash is the tree we have made the greatest and most varied use of over the course of human history. Journeying from Wales across Europe and Ireland to the USA, Robert finds that the ancient skills and knowledge of the properties of ash are far from dead.

From one of the most interesting and iconic musicians of our time, a piercingly tender, funny and harrowing account of the path from suburban poverty and alienation to a life of beauty, squalor and unlikely success out of the NYC club scene of the late '80s and '90s.

A beautiful, honest and heartfelt book which sheds some light of an era of the early days of electronic music, albeit told from a New York perspective. Thank you Moby. We love you!

Historia
Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859) is the great lost scientist: more things are named after him than anyone else. There are towns, rivers, mountain ranges, the ocean current that runs along the South American coast; there's a penguin, a giant squid - even the Mare Humboldtianum on the moon. His colourful adventures read like something out of a Boy's Own story.

A very enjoyable read about a fastinating man who's life was well lived and who has had far reaching influence during his lifetime and to present day. A vital part of anyone's reading collection who is interested in science writing and the environment. Michael Hall -Environmental photographer

This is a must read
Revisado: 11-28-16
For the sake of humanity and future generations I urge you all to read this book.
A simple, concise, and general account of what we as a species have done and continue to do to our planet through our distructive ways, and a manifesto on what we must do to move forward toward a more thoughtful, sustainable and sustaining world. Timely, considering the exponential lost of biodiversity we are witnessing on our watch, and the greed and arrogance of mankind which is manafesting during recent world events. I enjoyed most of all the inclusion and the reverence shown toward the world's poor. Michael_hall_photographer

Historia
“What’s for dinner"? seemed like a simple question - until journalist and supermarket detective Michael Pollan delved behind the scenes. From fast food and big organic to small farms and old-fashioned hunting and gathering, this young listeners’ adaptation of Pollan’s famous food-chain exploration encourages kids to consider the personal and global health implications of their food choices. The Omnivore’s Dilemma serves up a bold message to the generation that needs it most: It’s time to take charge of our national eating habits - and it starts with you.

Loved this book. An authoritive and thoughtful account of what should be one of The most important aspects of being human; what we choose to eat. And how this decision effects our world, for better or worse.

Historia
Colonel Chris Hadfield has spent decades training as an astronaut and has logged nearly 4000 hours in space. During this time he has broken into a Space Station with a Swiss army knife, disposed of a live snake while piloting a plane, and been temporarily blinded while clinging to the exterior of an orbiting spacecraft. The secret to Col. Hadfield's success - and survival - is an unconventional philosophy he learned at NASA: prepare for the worst and enjoy every moment of it.

Fascinating life boring told.<br />

Couldn't finish this one. One would have thought a fully fledged astronaut would be an interesting person. Well, I found his life story tedious in the extreme. Have it up half way through.
