Historia
Ten years ago, Kaelin Daume spent a steamy summer home from college secretly hanging out with town bad boy Tyler Wirth and his best friend Nick Kernsted. The connection was warm, complicated, and came to a crashing end when she walked in on her two forbidden friends with another woman. The shocking scene of sex and bondage has haunted her boring, oh-so-vanilla life ever since. The fallout from that night tore Tyler's life apart.

Bad. Bad. Bad. (in all the wrong ways)
Revisado: 04-10-19
I wanted to like this book. I was looking for a sultry chick-lit read and the storyline described sounded right up my alley. It had so much potential for greatness but the story simply wasn't executed well. I was 4 hours into this nearly 6 hour read before I finally quit reading/listening. I wanted to quit at hour 2-2.5 but convinced myself it was going to get better and I had to see how it ended. In the subsequent 2 hours that followed, I was absolved of caring about how this tidy trio would wrap up their illicit endeavors. As hot as it was trying to be, it got quite boring and ultra-unrealistic (yes, even for a book!). Finally, every time this grown woman turns to these men and says (something to the effect of) "I want to be bad" or "I want to be a bad girl" it comes off like a 13-14 year old virgin begging her boyfriend, like Pinocchio, to make her a real girl. Bad analogy? It sounded fake and cringe-worthy. Not-at-all-sexy. If I were one of those lads, I would have stuffed a sock in her mouth the rest of the book. My recommendation? Find other happy reading threesome lovers. Over and out.

He’s controlled. Meticulous. Immaculate. No one would expect the proper Duke of Westmead to be a member of London’s most illicit secret club. Least of all: his future wife. Having overcome financial ruin and redeemed his family name to become the most legendary investor in London, the Duke of Westmead needs to secure his holdings by producing an heir. Which means he must find a wife who won’t discover his secret craving to spend his nights on his knees - or make demands on his long scarred-over heart.

NY Times Recommended - It Did Not Disappoint
Revisado: 04-04-19
This book was a solid 4+ stars. I picked it up, paid 1 credit since it wasn't in the Romance collection (where it should be), and did not regret the purchase. It was a good read with a slow but steady pace. There were a couple of predictable moments but overall I felt the story was refreshing and it had a kinky twist to the story that most historical romance novels lack. I would recommend this book.
The NY Times Romance Novels recommendations was written by Jaime Green and published 09/20/18, in case anyone wants to read the list.

Fine, fine. Sharing an apartment with my buddy's smoking-hot and incredibly amazing little sister seems like a recipe for disaster. But I desperately need a place close to work, and I swear I’ll behave. How hard can it be to share 500 square feet with the brilliant, beautiful total firecracker who’s my good friend too? Please. It’s sooo easy to hang out with Josie every night, to test out her new brownie recipes after work, to shop for towels and banana hangers on weekends. Until one night when she asks if she can join me under the covers. Platonically, of course.

Loved Sebastian York’s voice. This was a solid read in the Chick-Lit genre. Really enjoyed the storyline and slow build up. It was steamy for a romance novel but not erotica-hot in terms of graphic language. It fell somewhere in the middle of the spectrum.

Cute Teeny-Bopper Romance
Revisado: 06-18-15
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Considering the relatively short length of the book, I think listening to this story was time well spent. The meaty material at the end was satisfying but the build up to that point was a bit tedious, insipid even in the pacing. The book, overall, reminded me of something I'd have lapped up at 13 or 14 years old. Maybe even 15. Too bad I'm twice that age now. I kind of wanted something more intense. Something deeper to the story. To end on a positive note, the oral-scenes were super hot. Best part of the book. Had dreams that night. Great dreams. TY author!
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I would not have told the story using third person narration. I found it pretty distracting.
Have you listened to any of Jem Matzan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not listening to his other narrations before.
Could you see Firsts being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
This story (and variations with much the same set-up) has been done so many times in Hollywood, I don't see a unique reason to adapt this particular retelling. If I did, it would star Dakota Fanning & Eddie Redmayne.
Any additional comments?
I quite enjoyed the author's interview at the end.

Worth the Read (I plan to read the sequel)
Revisado: 12-19-14
Where does Temptation: Book 1 in the Temptation Series rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It is a low-hanging fruit of a 4-star. An easy read and not overtly predictable, though, toward the end I had a feeling how things were going to shake out and how the author would legitimize the less savory actions (or sequence of actions) of the characters.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Temptation: Book 1 in the Temptation Series?
Mid-book when Alexis fell into day-dreams that the reader thinks are real for a few minutes. Also, when her boss comes to her husband's house with a proposal straight out of Indecent Proposal.
Which scene was your favorite?
When her girlfriend asks if she's nailed her sexy/handsome/rich boss "yet" ..... like, it's not a questions, it's a timeframe of inevitability. It kinda felt like that friend was the voice for the reader.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
That this lovers triangle emerged from a girl/woman who was so
Any additional comments?
I REALLY hate that Johnny Depp quote about falling in love with two people and how you should pick the second because if you loved the first you wouldn't be in love with the second. It's total bullshit. Polyamory. It's a real-life functional thing. Depp should look into it. Didn't like how this book used his cliché quote as a conversation piece. It annoyed me and frankly seemed like the author's attempt to invalidate the legitimate love Alexis has for her high school sweetheart, Rick.
I thought the title was also cliché but gave it a try after another reader review insisted it wasn't as trite a story as maybe it seemed on the outside ((this is my first third-wheel romance where a Husband and children are involved)). For all intensive purposes, the author pulled it off and I enjoyed reading it.

Revisado: 07-19-14
What did you love best about The Saint?
Niko and all this Sorren.
Also, I don't think this is a spoiler as it was such a small bit, but the part where Elle meets Lockland. "Everyone calls me Locky. Everyone but you. You call me, Sir." #gulp #chills
Who was your favorite character and why?
While I love Sorren - I find myself more drawn to the type of man Niko is. Which is more about personality and lifestyle than his situationally submissive role, here.
What about Elizabeth Hart’s performance did you like?
It was wonderful. Affable.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
THE SAINT shows you the fiery edge where desire, pain, and love dance and has you begging to edge.

Give it some time to grow on you
Revisado: 07-12-14
Would you listen to Executive Decision again? Why?
Probably not. It was a nice story to read and I enjoyed it but there wasn't a lot of depth that would warrant a re-read to pick up lost details. Also, I hated the first couple chapters. Almost stopped listening but it picked up and got me solidly bated around Chapter 3-4.
What other book might you compare Executive Decision to and why?
Remove all the sexy-smexy of Christian Grey - make Grey a good lifetime older (~15yrs). Also, remove the BSDM elements. Ahh.. there we go. Getting closer. Now, pretend Ana dumped Grey and got with her sexy bff Javier instead (only in this story, said bff is really an uber-rich metro dude - but still handsome). That's kind of the closest I can get with what I've read. At first, her guy friend bff reminds me of Sebastian from Cruel Intentions. Gorgeous, woman magnet, rich, playboy, but deep down - he only wants THIS one woman "Liz-B".
Have you listened to any of Sarah Van Sweden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Nope. I didn't like some bits of how Elizabeth was portrayed (the attiutude/tone) but it may have been a directorial choice outside of my knowing. Otherwise, I think she did great. I'd listen to another one of her books.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Heck, no. Not sure how people can do that. I listening in chunks over 4 days.
Any additional comments?
I think more could have been done if her Ohio paramore had come into the picture sooner. His name was talked about but it was just conversation. He wasn't a person until the last few chapters. It made me wonder if the author would at some point, write Dakota's story. I don't know... it just seemed like there's more to flesh out with that character. Perhaps Liz/Dale's story wasn't the place to insert the start (in detail) of Dakota's.... guess time will tell!

Oh, god no. I wish I could return the audiobook and purchase an e-book copy of the story. I appreciate the author creating an audiobook but a performer she is not. It being her own work, I really would have expected a less mono-tone and sleep enducing story. The book is great but desperately needs to be recorded by someone with more expression in their voice.Disappointed.

a wonderful romance
Revisado: 03-08-12
What made the experience of listening to The Bride the most enjoyable?
I loved Rosalyn Landor's Scottish accents. I liked the the story wasn't overtly cliche as far as romance novels go. The story had some interesting subplots too so I wansn't just waiting around for the two to fall in bed together - I was genuinely captivated by the entire story. The ending was nice as well - although - it felt a little abrupt. I was still swimming in story (loving it!) and then all of a sudden it was over. I don't mean abrupt in that there were loose ends in the storyline rather that I just didn't feel an ending coming. It was a nice book and I'd recommend it to anyone who loves Romance and a good story.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jamie - I loved that she was kind of a tom boy. She was a skilled hunter, horseback rider, and knife handler. She wasn't meek and gave Alec a run for his money. I really liked how her personality and behavior gradually softened Alec as the story went on.
Which character – as performed by Rosalyn Landor – was your favorite?
Alec - I loved the Scottish
