An engaging trip through Earthsea

If you love the writing and story of the first 4 books of Earthsea, you will enjoy this collection of tales that surround and enrich the world the series is set in, all while bringing with it the thematic and character focused writing style that Ursula K Le Guin uses so well. This is a quieter fantasy series, not focused on epic battles of good and evil or action packed quests for righteousness, but it’s one that has quickly become one of my favorites for its introspective nature and meaningful journeys. It is rare that I read a series that feels like it changes some part of me, that it’s left a lasting impact on my life and how I see the world, but I can earnestly say that this and the other novels in this series have done just that.

Good for gay men wondering about paganism/witchcraft/Wicca

The narrator is pretty good and the writing is enjoyable to hear. Think of this as a starter to examining how being a gay man interacts with the Wicca belief system and shapes a spirituality based in pagan/Wiccan beliefs that is inclusive, rather than exclusive, for gay men.

Pretty good read and fun listen

Overall, a good book for an independent practitioner, especially focus on LGBT issues and being inclusive. A great read for any gay male witches/warlocks, but perhaps not if tradition is a very important concept for your beliefs.

Love wheel of time, and the start is the best

While perhaps the series goes longer than needed, the first 8 books are all solid and enthralling reads that I could reread again and again, and the performances by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are wonderfully done. They are easily my favorite speakers so far and I can’t recommend them enough.
