Historia
Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett faces two different kinds of raging beasts—one animal, one human—in this riveting new novel from #1 New York Times bestseller C. J. Box. A rogue grizzly bear has gone on a rampage—killing, among others, the potential fiancé of Joe’s daughter. At the same time, Dallas Cates, whom Joe helped lock up years ago, is released from prison with a special list tattooed on his skin. He wants revenge on the people who sent him away: the six people he blames for the deaths of his entire family and the loss of his reputation and property.

Historia
Driven by a compulsion that challenges his self-control, the man calling himself Charles Milton prowls the rodeo circuit, hunting young women. He chooses those he believes are the most vulnerable, wandering alone and distracted, before he strikes. For years, he has been meticulous in his methods, abducting, murdering, and disposing his victims while leaving no evidence of his crimes—or their identities—behind. Indigenous women have become his target of choice, knowing law enforcement’s history of ignoring their disappearances.

Great topic worth exposing. BUT......
Revisado: 09-20-23
We live in a part of the country with two Native American reservations within 50 miles of our home. The local school districts teach tribal language classes. As a former school board member who supported these classes, I believe it is essential to teach the younger generation.
But in my opinion, native folklore in this book distracted from the mystery that we purchased the book for. The native mythology made it hard to follow the storyline. I had to STRUGGLE to finish it. I had to jump forward and back to follow the storyline and have yet to finish it.
I recommend this book to those living in tribal regions that are part of the embedded native folklore.

Historia
In a wicked conspiracy reaching across the Mexican border, Tularosa pits a jaded ex-cop against tight-lipped Army personnel, hired thugs, and smooth-talking outlaws. Forced into retirement by a crippling gunshot wound, Santa Fe policeman Kevin Kerney seeks solitude on a small New Mexico ranch far from the nearest neighbor. But when his godson disappears without a trace into the harsh, high-security desert of the White Sands Missile Range, Kerney emerges to search for the young soldier.

Good read good characters.
Revisado: 07-26-23
Slow struggle in the middle. Found it hard to connect to the characters. Loved the early chapters investigation leading to the finding of the missing soldier/ artist. The middled drag but the story redeemed itself in the closing chapters.

Historia
On the evening of their engagement party, Maine Game Warden Investigator Mike Bowditch and Stacey Stevens witness what seems to be a hit-and-run speedboat crash on a darkened lake. When they arrive at the scene, their spotlight reveals a gruesome sight: a severed arm floating just beneath the surface. As day breaks, the warden dive team recovers not one but two naked corpses: a dismembered man and the married woman with whom he was having an affair. Mike begins to suspect the swimmers' deaths were not a senseless accident but a coldly calculated murder.

After a long wait sadly IMO not one of his best.
Revisado: 07-01-23
When you put the Game Warden on a lake for the setting of the entire book for me it lost some of the continuity of all the previous books. Starting with jumping into a marriage.
I thought I had read or listen to all of the previous books in order. When did Bowditch drop Dani (sp). And get engaged to Stacy. It just seemed that new characters were dropped into the long established story lines. Like a stepdad and a former Navy Seal. As always Henry Leyva did a great job.
I was hoping there were more Bowditch books coming.

Historia
The plane circled in the dark. Joe Pickett could just make out down below a figure in the snow and timber, and then three other figures closing in. There was nothing he could do about it. And Joe knew that he might be their next target. The Cates family had always been a bad lot. Game warden Joe Pickett had been able to strike a fierce blow against them when the life of his daughter April had been endangered, but he'd always wondered if there'd be a day of reckoning.

The best part of Joe Pickett series ....
Revisado: 03-22-23
........ is that the narrator is always the voices that belong to Joe, Nate, and all the other characters. Switch narrator and it's no longer worth listening to.

Historia
Everything about the man is a mystery: the massive ranch in the remote Black Hills of Wyoming that nobody ever visits, the women who live with him, the secret philanthropies, the private airstrip, the sudden disappearances. And especially the persistent rumors that the man’s wealth comes from killing people. Joe Pickett, still officially a game warden but now mostly a troubleshooter for the governor, is assigned to find out what the truth is, but he discovers a lot more than he’d bargained for. There are two other men living up at that ranch. One is a stone-cold killer who takes an instant dislike to Joe.

The small town of Paradise is devastated when a star high-school baseball player is found dead at the bottom of a bluff just a day after winning the team’s biggest game. For Jesse, the loss is doubly difficult—the teen was the nephew of his colleague, Suitcase Simpson, and Jesse had been coaching the young shortstop. As he searches for answers about how the boy died and why, he is stonewalled at every turn, and it seems that someone is determined to keep him from digging further.

The ancient Ojibwe healer Henry Meloux has had a vision of his death. As he walks the Northwoods in solitude, he tries to prepare himself peacefully for the end of his long life. Good story with the introduction of some new characters. A potential love interest for Cork's son Steven. And maybe a new character to learn Henry's many secrets who might fill the void when Henry enters the spirit world. At 100+? years old he won't live forever.
