Historia
Professional biographer Carl Rollyson has pioneered a new kind of biography for children and adults alike. His narrative of Marie Curie's life is rendered in simple, precise prose. Each chapter is designed to provoke further discussion and research into the life and career of one of the century's greatest scientists and - as Rollyson shows - one of the most important figures in human history.

Meh

This was just okay. Given the lack of audio book biographies about Marie Curie I suppose this is better than others I’ve listened to. That said, compared to biographies on Albert Einstein or Walt Disney this audio book pales in comparison.

Historia
After publishing the New York Times best seller The Essential 55, award-winning teacher Ron Clark took his rules on the road and traveled to schools and districts in 49 states. He met amazing teachers, administrators, students, parents, all kinds of people involved in bringing up great kids. In the best of these people, he noticed the same qualities that he'd observed in so many of the teachers, children, and parents he'd worked with during his time teaching in North Carolina and Harlem.

... for elementary ed
Revisado: 02-17-12
What did you like best about The Excellent 11? What did you like least?
I understand that Ron Clark works in an elementary environment but I was hopeful that I would glean a few ideas to use in secondary ed. Not a whole lot that I'm either not already doing or just wouldn't work in a high school classroom.
What three words best describe Ron Clark’s voice?
slightly annoying
Was The Excellent 11 worth the listening time?
I suppose

Sometimes, we fall in love on mission trips even though we know we’ll break up when we get back. Sometimes, you think, “I wish I had a T-shirt that said ‘I direct deposit my tithe’ so people wouldn’t judge me.” Sometimes, the stuff that comes with faith is funny. This is that stuff. Jonathan Acuff’s Stuff Christians Like is your field guide to all things Christian. You’ll learn the culinary magic of the crock-pot. Think you’ve got a Metro worship leader? Use Acuff’s checklist. Want to avoid a prayer handholding faux pas? Acuff has you covered.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This was written for the author's fellow parishioners. As a Catholic with plenty of ability to laugh at myself or the church... nothing funny or amusing here.
Would you be willing to try another one of Jonathan Acuff’s performances?
no

Fairly obvious but a worth while listen
Revisado: 02-17-12
What about David Allen’s performance did you like?
I enjoy listening to author narrated books. The author's intentions come through far more clearly.
Any additional comments?
While this book is designed for executives, there are only a few things I can't use. Very much worth my time and effort. Clearing my mind's 'RAM' has already helped!

Kids are naturally curious, but when it comes to school it seems like their minds are turned off. Why is it that they can remember the smallest details from their favorite television programs, yet miss the most obvious questions on their history test? Cognitive scientist Dan Willingham has focused his acclaimed research on the biological and cognitive basis of learning and has a deep understanding of the daily challenges faced by classroom teachers.

no duh!
Revisado: 02-17-12
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Unless you are completely out of touch with your students or this is your first day in the classroom there is nothing here for you.
In part of the book the author talks about using stories to keep kids attn. The story was so dull that he lost my attention! Don't waste your time or money.
Would you ever listen to anything by Daniel T. Willingham again?
doubtful
