Historia
After the West London Museum suffers extensive fire damage, the shop owners on Baker Street come together to hold an afternoon auction tea to raise funds to rebuild it. Cape Cod's cognoscenti file into Mrs. Hudson's Tea Room, but the auction never happens. Before the gavel can fall, museum-board chair Kathy Lamb is found dead in the back room. Wrapped tightly around her neck is a long rope of decorative knotted tea cups. Gemma's boyfriend in blue, Ryan Ashburton, arrives on the scene with Detective Louise Estrada. But the suspect list is long, and the case is far from elementary.

Awful narrator
Revisado: 12-19-23
So-so series, good for a mindless listen. To be fair, I wasn't a huge fan of the first narrator, but at least she was age appropriate, regional accent appropriate for other characters, did reasonable non-cartoony sounding exclamations for character reactions, and knew how to pronounce the name of the FMC's car (cringy to hear Miata pronounced "Maya-ta").
I'll probably keep listening for background noise while working, but I paid ~$2 per book during the Cyber Monday massive sale; I DO NOT recommend spending more than that or using credits for this series

Historia
Molly Graham doesn't believe in love at first sight or fairy tales. She's been burned too many times before. But when she stumbles across a very handsome British professor, Albert George, seeking refuge in her office during the Museum of Literature's Valentine's Day gala for the opening of their Austen exhibit, she can't help but be drawn to the fellow introverted academic. Together, they ghost out of the event and embark upon a monthlong love affair. Just as she’s rethinking her stance on happily ever afters, he disappears.

Historia
Two weeks before Christmas and all through Manhattan, shop windows are decorated in red and green satin. I'm standing alone in front of the famous Vivant department store, when a charming man named Aiden asks my opinion of the décor. It's a tragedy in tinsel, I say, unable to lie. He asks for a better idea with a twinkle in his eye. Did I know he owned the place? No. He put me on the spot. Now I'm working for that man, trying to ignore that he's hot. But as a down on her luck girl with a difficult past, I know an opportunity when I see one—and I have to make it last.

Not my favorite Tessa Bailey story, but I'm not generally a fan of insta-love romances so take that with a grain of salt. Narrators were just ok, but pretty sure I won't ever listen to this one again

Historia
In the Virginia countryside outside of Washington, DC, Addy Wentworth was on a mission to make a new life for herself. When the opportunity arose, she settled in horse and wine country. Experiencing more than her fair share of tragedy and loss, she had plans for her future, one where failure wasn’t an option. And not just because people and cows were counting on her. She’d poured everything she had into her struggling vineyard, because once she’s in, she’s all in.

(2.5 stars) Longer than necessary
Revisado: 05-23-22
This book feels unnecessarily long. The repetition about how the FMC has turned the vineyard's backstory and how she turned it around takes up too much time, and doesn't need to be reiterated so often, some scenes drag on for far too long, and the main threat is already resolved and I still have 3 hours left to listen to. Haven't decided if I'll bother finishing it or not.
For the most part the narrators do a good job, but the female narrator pitches her voice way too low for her portions portraying the MMC. After a while it starts to grate.

Historia
Three things Lynsey Jones knows about the hot doctor: he's grouchy, an arrogant jerk, and strangely obsessed with pie. Three things Dr. Josh Richardson knows: He doesn't talk about his past, he doesn't do relationships, and the crazy girl in the hospital cafeteria who ate a fistful of French silk pie...is annoyingly irresistible. After a chance meetup at a bar and a heated cab ride together, things come to a head. Three months later, the weird cafeteria stalker who crept out of Josh's house like a thief in the night winds up as his patient in the ER after her Tinder date from hell.

Narrator took me out of it
Revisado: 05-17-22
Note to self: steer clear of Erin Mallon.
The story was fine (NOT BDSM, as another review called it), I now realize I'm not a fan of the "surprise baby" genre, but that's a personal preference, but I recall not enjoying books by this narrator before, and this one reminded me why. Specifically: her 'male' voices-- they're all the same, they all sound like they're talking through clenched teeth with little change in inflection, and not really all that emotive.
Definitely don't need the rest of this series and will stick to other Daws tales

After the first taste of her Christmas cookies I wanted to shove the whole thing in my face. The whole plate of cookies, that is. Not...you know. Christmas is bad enough without one of The Great Christmas Bake-Off contestants all wrapped up in a bow under my tree. Er...I meant...Christmas is horrible, right? Holly. Christmas is like the perfect sugar cookie - it slowly melts in your mouth, sweetening every taste bud, making you wish it could last forever. I love Christmas! I love the cheerful music, the fun sweaters, and the holiday lights.

Revisado: 04-09-22
Made it about 2/3 of the way through but felt like the story dragged on waaay too long. It's basically a tinse and repeat of book 1 (spoilers)
-she loves Christmas and baking
-he hates sweets and Christmas
-there's a stalker/saboteur in the contest with the female lead
-his parents don't approve
Etc etc.
If you listened to the first book, you've basically already listened to this one

It all started with a sexy selfie. Texted to the wrong number. Oops. Not my finest moment - but I have nothing to be ashamed of. She thought I was no better, and I quote, than the knuckle-dragging douchebags she was never dating again. It was a stupid dare from a girl I’d met online, but since she’d given me a fake number, I didn’t feel bad that my interests were suddenly focused elsewhere - on the fiery and sharp-tongued Peyton that I found myself sparring with over text. The following day, my case of mistaken identity came back to bite me in the banana.

Meh...
Revisado: 01-13-22
Don't believe the synopsis. There is no "hated me on sight" to get over or work through, there is no back and forth, there is no real tension-- literally the only thing "keeping" these two from getting together is 'don't date someone you work with even though we both acknowledge the attraction and chemistry' and that's practically all they talk/think about. It's like listening to high schoolers.
Fell asleep listening to it and missed about 2 hours worth of the story and don't feel like I missed anything. Did not finish.

I can’t believe that I pulled my boss’ name for our company’s annual Secret Santa tradition.... As the devil incarnate, this infuriating, cocky bastard never gives us the holidays off, and he honestly expects us to be grateful for his generous alternative: The Office Party. It’s a mandatory, all-expenses paid trip for two weeks at a surprise luxury resort - where we still have to work 12 to 15 hours a day.

Meh story, not great female narration
Revisado: 12-03-21
Story was....okay. Could've used more fleshing out so it didn't feel like *such* a switch when the characters crash together, but the female narrator bugs the cr*p out of me. I recognized her immediately from another short story and knew this would be a less-than-enjoyable listen. Her male voice has no inflection and no "casual" differentiation from when she's trying to portray him as 'seductive', and overall speaks too slowly making the story feel slow. I'd recommend trying to listen a little sped up.

Historia
Often considered to be one of the most famous pieces by Edgar Allan Poe, 'The Raven' is a poem recounting the descent into madness of a young man lamenting the loss of his lover. This spellbinding performance by Dominic West (The Wire, The Affair) lures the listener into the depths of the protagonist’s despair.

I was ok with West's pacing (knowing other reviewers disliked it), but the voice given to the Raven is *horrendous*. Listening to Garrison Keillor's performance of it as a palette cleanser after that

quick listen
Revisado: 05-16-21
Falls in line with the rest of the series, fun, quick listen, and the narrator does a great job. My only (personal) annoyance is that the writer *majorly* over uses the term "grouse" to describe the way someone says something in response-- seriously, several times a chapter gets annoying and distracting. thesaurus.com is free and should be referenced a little more often
