Historia
The Story of a Soul conveys St. Therese of Lisieux's "Little Way" of spiritual childhood - her "elevator" to Heaven, as she called it. This method was approved by Pope Pius XI as a way for all to grow in holiness through unfailing confidence and childlike delight in God's merciful love. Again and again in this audiobook, St. Therese shows us how her "Little Way" of love and trust comes straight from Sacred Scripture.

Well Read
Revisado: 10-08-24
The Saint's innocent thoughts, love of God and of man causes me to ponder, like looking into an beautiful stary sky with the stars representing her profound love. I want to love like she did, but how can I love so purely? Saint Therese's love humbles me.

"I remained, lost in oblivion; My face I reclined on the Beloved. All ceased and I abandoned myself, Leaving my cares forgotten among the lillies." Thus writes 16th century Spanish poet and mystic, St. John of the Cross. In this, his third work, the author reflects on the nature of a personal union with Christ, found in the abandonment of self.

The Word by a Saint
Revisado: 07-29-24
This book nourished my mind. spoke to my soul, humbled my heart, and has already begun changing my life in ways I have longed for, for decades. With the tears of a hopeful sinner, I repent, have Faith, and growing love.
I ache for Jesus, God's Word, spoken once, spoken completely.
I needed a quiet place to study this book and gladly reread parts of it for clarity. I want you to find even more than I did and I will go through it again soon with love.

Catholicism Profoundly Improved the World
Revisado: 02-11-24
I stand in awe at how profoundly one man, one God improved our world.
God's Kingdom came through Christ who did God's will, and initiated the Church which grew and brought God's love to all, through His followers. We are still growing in God's time. We are still imperfect. But Jesus founded the Church and no matter what comes, the Holy Spirit is with it. See the impact, have faith, cling to hope, and live in charity. Why? Because we can each improve our little part of this precious universe. This is an excellent book.

Best SF Collection to Date
Revisado: 01-08-24
I loved each of the books which stretched my imagination from the deepest depths of Earth to Mars, then from the Past to the Future beyond normal imagination.
The one thing that could and should be improved is the "stutter" or "skipping" which caused a deja vu effect. The narrator was excellent. The assembly should be improved. Regardless, I recommend this audible book.

Excellent Slow-Hot Burn Epic Novel
Revisado: 12-07-23
I loved this book.
It’s a slow-burn story that introduces most of the main characters and families at a party in Russia in about 1805 when rumblings of war began shaking the world from Europe to Africa and then Russia.
Most of the young folks were from aristocratic families. In this book, you see the foolishness of youth, the seeds of personality, and the growth and education of life. Tolstoy walks you through good times, tough times, romance, and through the Napoleonic Wars in Russia from 1812-1813 and then beyond. I “watched” young folks (and old) deal with love, war, death, loss, and finally, for survivors, rebuilding. Some characters are fictional, some are real, and yet events and experiences are true. As I read, I thought, “Tolstoy knew war.” While he did not serve in that war, he was close to it in time, interviewed many (soldiers, families, and loved ones) who had been in it, read many diaries and letters, and served in the Crimean War.
While I came to “know” many characters, I will always remember Andrew, Pierre, and Natashia. It was hard to say goodbye to some who did not survive, while others, it was not so hard. While war changes things forever, it was good to see a rebuilding of something new beyond those times. It’s a good novel.
The two following epilogues include Tolstoy’s provocative thoughts on history and people. I disagree with some of his ideas. However, it would have been fun to sit with him next to a fireplace on a cool evening with a warm brandy or Vodka to tell stories and share thoughts.
I recommend this book. However, if you choose to enter it, be prepared for a long journey in which history and people come to life, and some will die. The people you meet will live somewhere in your mind as if you knew them. Perhaps they were all real people whose stories came to life again from the diaries and letters that Tolstoy read.

Dracula Outshines Movie
Revisado: 11-10-23
Beware, once started this suspenseful masterpiece of drama, horror, and love will capture your thoughts and imagination till the very last word. Stoker's perfect usage of uncommon yet eloquent words enhances your vocabulary such that you need no dictionary. From the fertile soil of Dracula, many movies sprang but those are mere blurred reflections of this book. Finally, the speakers are superb. Enjoy.
