very funny but deep
Revisado: 06-03-20
I really loved this book. the voice overs were fantastic, adding to the comedy. I feel like if I was reading the book (as opposed to listening) it might not be as funny. However, had I watched a movie (if that exists) it would also not be as funny. So, the voice over, coupled with my imagination made for a very funny, deep, and touching experience.

Historia
Drawing on a wealth of psychological research, Alfie Kohn points the way to a more successful strategy based on working with people instead of doing things to them. "Do rewards motivate people?" asks Kohn. "Yes. They motivate people to get rewards." Seasoned with humor and familiar examples, Punished by Rewards presents an argument unsettling to hear but impossible to dismiss.

beneficial with a touch of humor
Revisado: 04-25-20
This book put into words convictions I've held for a while. It's also quite humorous. It was very appropriate that he read his own book. I don't think anyone could have done a better job. I'm thinking about buying the actual book now.

Historia
The buzz word in education today is accountability. But the federal mandate of "no child left behind" has come to mean curriculums driven by preparation for standardized tests and quantifiable learning results. Even for very young children, unstructured creative time in the classroom is waning as teachers and administrators are under growing pressures to measure school readiness through rote learning and increased homework.

I really enjoyed this story. It gave me lots to talk about with friends, so it's great material for starting conversations. lots of fun facts embedded into this book as well. The narrator was quite good and I felt really suited the story's style.
