Lots of humor and great narration on books 1 and 2. I wasn't crazy about Sean Crisden's interpretation in book 3. The characters in this book seemed to have a bit of a shift emotionally. So much growling. At times there didn't seem like there was a clear delineation between characters' voices, and deeper voices seemed muffled. I loved whiny Tiago and his character seemed way off from the previous books.

Overall, though, I loved the story and the change in narrators wasn't enough to ruin it for me.

First, let me say I only buy Audible books I think I'll listen to over and over. Recently, I've been seeing this one advertised again, so I decided to listen to the full series again. I'd been away from Audible for a while and when I decided to renew my membership I think this was one of my first purchases. I'd read all of the Kindle books in the series, so I knew the story was a solid purchase and decided to give it a listen. I poked around on Audible checking out narrators and came up with a list of narrators I liked. (I have to admit to feeling sheepish when I heard Greg Tremblay and thought "wow, this guy sounds just like Greg Boudreaux" but I soon wised up.) The man wields a range of voices that is amazing, and he pulls you into the stories with a smooth and emotional flow that brings the characters to life.

I have listened to some really bad narrators over the years, reading in a monotone voice, no emotion and no differentiation between the various characters, so I know good from bad. Even though I had already read and listened to In the Requiem several times, so I knew what was coming, Greg's reading still brought me to tears

Seriously, my favorite series' are Metahuman Files and Soulbound, both by Hailey Turner. (BTW, Gary Furlong does a great narration of Soulbound.) The books should be read in order, as the original plot doesn't complete until book 5, In the Requiem. Book 6 is Liam's status after the events of book 5, and the three Metahuman Files: Classified books expand on Trevor's side story, and add more details to events surrounding Alexei and Sean.

Mostly a repeat of Book 1

While I can respect this author's writing style, let's face it Book 2 is almost word for word a repeat of Book 1. I suppose it's supposed to be the same events as Book 1 from a different POV, but it just seems to be a lazy way to slip in an extra volume. I had to go back and compare the chapter titles to be sure I wasn't still listening to Book 1. You could almost skip Book 2.

Outside of that, I love the story and the narrator is very good. He has a wide range of voices that are all very pleasant and believable. It's too bad the same narrator couldn't finish the series. It's never good when narrators change in the middle of a series.

These books could have been merged into a boxed set. I hesitated for a long time before eventually biting the bullet and purchasing all 7 books. Seems like a lot to pay for such short installments, and being cliff-hangers you want to be sure the series is complete before investing the time and money in them.

Worst Book Ever!

Let me just start off by saying I love the Haven Hart series. I was so happy to see that new books had been added but I couldn't even finish Secret Simon. Wish I'd used credit to purchase so I could return it.

Cendese rushed through the dialogue like he couldn't wait to finish and the sound quality on his narration was terrible. Of course you don't find that out till you've already purchased the book because the sample only has Solo's voice. He did a great job by the way, so I don't fault him.

This was a perfect example of why two narrators are just a bad idea. If they were recording together and playing off of each other it might work, but I never understand why authors try to put two narrators together who have recorded seperately. It screws up the continuity when it's this obvious. Cendese sounded like he was talking over an old AM radio. I'd rather listen to a narrator like Greg Boudreaux who does all the voices (most of the time). It worked for Joel Leslie and Philip Alces but I think the books were written differently, so that the characters were quoting or describing the others rather than speaking 'as' them (not to mention that they're just far better narrators).

The storyline didn't grab me either but a lot of that was probably because the narration was so annoying. I listened to a little of Rush and the sound quality seemed better, but Cendese was still annoying and listening to these two trying to voice characters from the original books was so off that it didn't even seem like part of the same series. I'd recomend sticking with the Kindle versions if you really want to read these two books. Since I didn't like either Audible version, I returned Rush, so no review on that one.

Sorry Mr. King, try again. If I were you I'd have these re-recorded or archived.

Good story line as are all of the books in the series. Didn't care for the narrator but he did a better job here than with book three. I still had a hard time distinguishing between characters at times since the narrator doesn't seem to do multiple voices. Still, the reading was acceptable and I enjoyed the plot. Sorry, I admit to being picky about narrators. After all, isn't that why we buy audio books instead of print (or in addition). I like to listen in bed and give my eyes a rest after being on the computer all day.

Joel Leslie and Michael Ferraiuolo are also great narrators but I don't think their voices would be first choice for these particular books. Sorry guys! Maybe Gary Furlong or Michael Pauley........

Don't Bother, the Narration Is Terrible

Even though others said the narrator was awful, I bought books three and four because I had already bought one and two and wanted to get the whole series on Audible. Just stick with reading the Kindle book for three unless you want to listen to the narrator yell for the first nine or ten chapters. Yes, the character is angry but I feel like the narrator is over the top with shouting. It did seem to get better halfway through the book. I hope the fifth book will have a better narrator. I did listen to the sample before buying but just attributed the 'anger' to the character being a little grumpy at the beginning, but Mr. Baker was loud and angry well into the book. Book four was better, but I still didn't care for the narrator. I agree with the comment that there was no distinguishing between the voices of the various characters. Even if the original narrator wasn't available, there had to be better narrators available.... Kale Williams, Michael Dean, or my fave, Greg Boudreaux. The narration was so irritating I couldn't stand to listen to any more initially but forced myself to continue just to get to the conclusion of the story, I can't believe the author listened to this recording and found it acceptable.

I love the Thirds series and I own all the books in the original story line but.... this is the worst audio book I've ever listened to. What is Mark Westfield's problem? The characters' dialogue lines are great (normal), but the rest of the narration is just bizzarre. It’s as if suddenly someone told him he needed to try to sound sinister. Same narrator on all books, but totally different reading after books 1 thru 5. Did the author tell him to change his style? Westfield needs to re-record books 6 through 10 using the style he used in the first five books. What a shame. I tried to speed the recording up in hopes of improving the quality, but it didn’t help.
