Really good
Revisado: 08-05-22
Really good! Especially for a sequel, especially for a sequel written ten years after the first!

Awesome inclusion
Revisado: 04-12-22
So awesome to include this here. Just a cool little unnecessary nicety that also adds to the whole thing.

Historia
Glen Runciter runs a lucrative business - deploying his teams of anti-psychics to corporate clients who want privacy and security from psychic spies. But when he and his top team are ambushed by a rival, he is gravely injured and placed in "half-life," a dreamlike state of suspended animation. Soon, though, the surviving members of the team begin experiencing some strange phenomena, such as Runciter's face appearing on coins and the world seeming to move backward in time.

Fantastic narrator, fantastic book
Revisado: 11-19-20
This book is fantastic, and the narrator is phenomenal. Reach voice is distinct, with personality and voice all it's own. Wonderful experience.

Historia
As a television news correspondent, Alex Callahan has traveled to some of the most dangerous corners of the globe, covering famine, plague, and war. He's seen more than his share of blood and death, and knows what it means to be afraid. But what he's never known is the terror that grabs him when, on a tranquil summer afternoon, he ceases to be an observer of the dark side and, to his shock, becomes enmeshed in it.

Fantastic. Really.
Revisado: 12-01-17
This is a fantastic book!!! I love all John case books, and as always, this one is extremely well researched. I'm also a magician and all the discussion of the history and effects are spot on and terrific.

Narrator's inflections at the end of SENtenCES.
Revisado: 01-20-17
My heavens. The narrator was excruciatingly distracting. The majority of her sentences/phrases would end with an up\down/up inflection (think a very exaggerated 3rd tone in Mandarin Chinese if you're familiar). There was a part in chapter ten where there is a list of items and she does that high-low-high thing for every item. I paused the book right then to write this review.
Aside from that distracting flaw, the narrator was good! She had enough vocal variation to distinguish different characters. And while her interpretation of the voice of the main male character sounded like an abusive boyfriend from one of those 1980's safe sex PSA's , it was consistent and different from the other voices.
The story is compelling, albeit the romance and hormones are a bit heavy handed, but the author knows her target audience and the concept is strong enough to keep me listening in spite of the hormones. I haven't finished-as aforementioned I'm only half way through- but I'm gonna finish it and enjoy it. Thanks for letting me vent about that inflection. My goodness!!
