Historia
Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred.

Historia
On a night flight from London to Boston, Ted Severson meets the stunning and mysterious Lily Kintner. Sharing one too many martinis, the strangers begin to play a game of truth, revealing very intimate details about themselves. Ted talks about his marriage that's going stale and his wife, Miranda, who he's sure is cheating on him. Ted and his wife were a mismatch from the start - he the rich businessman, she the artistic free spirit - a contrast that once inflamed their passion but has now become a cliché.

Historia
It was a typical evening at a mall outside Portland, Maine. Three teenage friends waited for the movie to start. A boy flirted with the girl selling sunglasses. Mothers and children shopped together, and the manager at the video game store tended to customers. Then the shooters arrived. The chaos and carnage lasted only eight minutes before the killers were taken down. But for those who lived through it, the effects would last forever.

A bit boring
Revisado: 03-03-20
Pace is slow and not much suspense or mystery to speak of. Maybe better if Audible did not put this under the category: Mystery. Character development is brilliant though. Worth a leisurely read.

Driving home one night, stuck behind a rusty old car, Gabe sees a little girl’s face appear in its rear window. She mouths one word: Daddy. It’s his five-year-old daughter, Izzy. He never sees her again. Three years later, Gabe spends his days and nights traveling up and down the highway, searching for the car that took his daughter, refusing to give up hope, even though most people believe she’s dead. When the car that he saw escape with his little girl is found abandoned with a body inside, Gabe must confront not just the day Izzy disappeared but painful events from his past.

It seems like an ordinary Wednesday, until the phone rings. A mysterious caller with a chilling threat. Journalist Alice Henderson hangs up, ready to dismiss it as a hoax against the newspaper. But the next Wednesday, the stalker makes another move - and it becomes clear that this is all about Alice. Someone wants her to suffer, but for what? Her articles have made her a popular local champion - could it be her past rather than her work that’s put her life in danger?

Melodramatic characters
Revisado: 03-03-20
The main character takes melodrama to a new level. Her constant whining in primary school vocabulary is extremely irritating in the second half of the book. I wish one can count how many times she said "what if ..." and "why...". Plot is OK but the author used too many coincidences to create suspense. Will not try this author again.

Historia
Hen and her husband, Lloyd, have settled into a quiet life in a new house outside of Boston, Massachusetts. Hen (short for Henrietta) is an illustrator and works out of a studio nearby and has found the right meds to control her bipolar disorder. Finally, she’s found some stability and peace. But when they meet the neighbors next door, that calm begins to erode as she spots a familiar object displayed on the husband’s office shelf. The sports trophy looks exactly like one that went missing from the home of a young man who was killed two years ago.

Almost as good as "The Kind worth Killing"
Revisado: 03-27-19
I was a little hesitant to get a book whose main protagonist has bipolar disorder; too many bad authors use mental illness to make excuses for stupid, irrational, and unbelievable characters. But this is not one of those. The characters are very believable and relatable. The mental illness is cleverly used. Overall plot is good although not superb.

Boring book
Revisado: 03-11-19
What's with these books with weak and irrational women? 80% of the book is just detailed description of how this woman welcoming all the emotional and physical abuses. Even though she finally starts to fight back there's so much irrational behavior and lingering over the abusive husband. The story is ok but the writing could use so much improvement.

Anger evoking book

This a not an relaxed Sunday afternoon type of mystery. It makes you wish some of characters are standing right in front of you so you can beat them up. Don't recommend if you have anger management issue.
