Would you try another book from Bryan Young and/or Bryan Young?

Maybe.

Has Lost at the Con turned you off from other books in this genre?

Nah.

Did Bryan Young do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

That wasnt the problem.

Any additional comments?

I expected a lot more hilarity from the notion of him going to the convention. Not so much.
Then the soul searching did nothing to help make this a humorous book.

What did you like best about this story?

The story grabbed me and I gladly hung on. I thought it might be depressing from the synopsis and the other reviews but it really wasnt. There are aspects of this hell that are certainly hell like but hell is not to be white washed. The main character and her crew wend and rampage their way through the hellish landscape and I didn't have the impression that they were true victims of their fate. The story was also comical. I guess one just has to listen to it to get that.

What does Tai Sammons bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator brings it all to this story. It would not have worked without her. Her wonderful dry delivery is perfect. I totally believed I was listening to a 13 year old precocious kid.

Any additional comments?

Take a chance with this book. I am glad I did.

Even though I am a Koontz fan, I have noticed that his recent stories are very preachy as to what types of people are good and worthy and what type are bad, wrong and unworthy. The bad guys in this book are extremely evil, even ridiculously so. Give me a break, Dean! Lets get a little real here. Tbe good guys and bad guys you have created are just way out there.
I do enjoy his dog characters as I am a dog lover. Golden retrievers are near saints and geniuses in his books...what about pitbull mixes (my dog)?? lol
I managed to get to the end of this silly book but was disappointed with it overall.

I found this story hard to comprehend in one listen while walking. I didnt give it a second chance. It is a very strange tale about a boy who discovers the "truth" about his parents...with all sorts of creepy stops along the way. Lucky him. If you have the time and interest to keep track of what is going on in this story, you might find it more enlightening and enjoyable.

The kidnapping of a youngster by a pedophile reflects real life, unfortunately. The suspense of waiting to see if the boy will survive is at times too much to bear. This is a dark, dark story with a supernatural aspect that is fascinating. The ending is "happy" but the story is a downer.
