Foul Language
Revisado: 10-06-23
I truly wanted to listen to this book. Unfortunately I couldn't get past the first chapter due to the foul language, The author uses various names of God as a curse or exclamation in what felt like every paragraph. Disappointing.

Historia
Two women develop a groundbreaking surgery: the Cesarean section. It's a highly dangerous procedure and the research is grueling, but even worse is the vitriolic response from men. Most don't trust the findings of women, and many can choose to deny their wives medical care. Already facing resistance on all sides, Nora is shaken when she meets a patient who will die without the surgery. If the procedure is successful, her work could change the world. But a failure could cost everything: precious lives, Nora's career, and the role women will be allowed to play in medicine.

Historia
Rescued from a pandemic’s wreckage and raised by the eccentric surgeon Dr. Horace Croft, orphan Nora Beady cares little for Victorian conventions. While other young ladies busy themselves with needlework and watercolors, Nora perfects her sutures and anatomical illustrations. Women face dire consequences if caught practicing medicine, but in Croft’s private clinic, Nora is his most trusted - and secret - assistant. That is, until the new surgical resident, Dr. Daniel Gibson, arrives.

Game Changer
Revisado: 07-12-23
Speeding up the performance audio to 1.1 is a game changer. Susan Lyons is a talented narrator, but the default Audible speed setting makes her painful to listen to. The story is entertaining and historically interesting at the same time. I'm looking forward to listening to the second book in the series.

Yesterday's Tides was a delightful surprise. It includes characters from the Code breakers series. The settings smoothly switch between WWI and WWII. Rosanna White and Pilar Witherspoon raised the bar with this story and performance.

Talented Author
Revisado: 01-23-23
Tamera Alexander is a talented author. This book isn't the best in this series in regards to content or performance. The narrators portrayal of southern accents was difficult to listen to. Overall the series is worth reading and contains some very interesting historical information.

Scattered
Revisado: 11-28-22
I struggled to get through this book. The storyline was weak and scattered. One moment there was talk of entering the ministry and in the next there's overly detailed honeymoon dialogue. I couldn't tell if the author was trying to write a Christian historical or a secular romance novel. There was no depth to any of the characters. In two instances, family members were injured in the recent war, but nothing was mentioned about how they were injured or which battle. Nada.

Revisado: 05-23-22
Written on the Wind is book 2 in this wonderful series. The storyline, character development and narration are all excellent. It was hard to put this book down. I'm looking forward to Liam's story. Written on the Wind could easily be read as a stand alone, but it's best to start with book 1.
