A bunch of parts of the book might as well not exist. They are called out as important, emphasized, and would have been relevant but are completely ignored later.

Characters act rather stupidly repeatedly…
Revisado: 12-01-23
Captain ransom makes little sense as a character. The whole arc on the mistshark makes little sense, and the chronology seems extremely strange ( Albion spire arc timing seems very odd — it apparently takes longer to go down a spire than go to a different spire ?? )

Historia
Reidon Ward's first semester at the Galens Institute hasn't been without reward. In just over half a year he's gone from the weakest cadet at school to one of the strongest in his class, and there's no one left who would argue that his Device, Shido, isn't the most terrifying CAD they've ever laid eyes on. Still, Rei knows that his climb has barely begun, like he knows that the true fight is only just starting. After all… The Sectionals tournament has arrived. Rei, along with Aria, Viv, Catcher, and a couple unexpected squadmates, are about to face the first real battle of their careers.

Not really a great sequel
Revisado: 11-05-23
The main issue I have is that the pacing seems all over the place. The first parts of the book really drag. It does get better, but it’s hard to make up for that poor pacing.
Seems like the author didn’t really know what to do with the final revelation from the first book given the lip service given to it. Time is spent on it, but it’s lacking actual content.

Historia
When Alice Verianna went to sleep, she was just another teen from the Denver suburbs. She definitely didn't expect to be transported to a magical alternate dimension, inhabited by monsters and presided over by a mysterious System. Here, people resemble RPG characters and everyone has access to their own status screens. Grappling with the mechanics of the elusive System isn't the only challenge Alice faces. It seems an underground organization known as the Society of Starry Eyes has taken a particular interest in other dimensions.

Write what you know???
Revisado: 10-16-23
Not 100% sure what the author is going for here. The mc has knowledge I would not ascribe to a 15 year old, but also has the same kind of mistaken knowledge level of high school at best.
She makes false statements of fact repeatedly that would better follow having finished high school. If they are intentional to match her level of education that’s one thing, but I get the feeling that’s not actually the intent of the author. Since the character will spend a long time expounding on false premises.
Other than that, it’s not bad, it’s also not really that good though.

The story does not get better
Revisado: 10-04-23
Listened honestly far too long into book 7. It’s poorly written like a ten year old power fantasy but not even interestingly written.
Highly do not recommend. Trash is trash.
Author does info dumps for side quest characters and not even in a remotely clever fashion. The narrator just passively says xyz happens not character x thinks or says z or does z.
No idea how there are any positive reviews whatsoever.

Mediocre story
Revisado: 09-30-23
Highly inconsistent and fairly unbelievable. The ten year old has the chi stores of everyone else with much higher cultivation levels.
Sure he is more skilled with it, but it’s claimed early on he has essentially no chi whatsoever. That is never properly explained away.

Mediocre. Boxy wanna be
Revisado: 08-21-23
Sample audio is misleading, there isn’t nearly enough mimic interaction to save this audiobook.
There were numerous statements that were repeated throughout the novel that only really needed to be said once.
Overall the authors seem fans of tell rather than show. Which is the opposite of how you would normally want writing.
That said saved by Jeff’s performance of the mimic. By far the highlight.

"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

Revisado: 04-29-23
The MC ( Erin ) is incredibly naive to the point of being unbelievable. Story moves so slowly you can skip most chapters and not notice.
Good performance barely makes it listenable. Maybe worth a two for one at 5$ that’s about it.
