Historia
After twenty years, the cracks in Lauren Reed’s marriage are showing. She and her husband, Jack, feel more like roommates than a loving couple. What they have in common are two wonderful teenagers, Michael and Maddie, and the same wistful question: When did it all go wrong? Now that Lauren’s decided to get on with her life—alone—divorce is inevitable. Not to the kids. They aren’t giving up so easily.

A story with some wise advice
Revisado: 01-17-25
This was my first time reading a story by this author. The story was good. It had some wise lessons and insights about keeping a marriage healthy especially during difficult times. I unfortunately had a hard time with the narrators; distinguishing between the character’s thoughts and actual conversations. I imagine that would be hard to do. What I don’t understand is if you have both a male and female narrator, why not have the woman speak all the female parts and the man speak the male parts. I think it would be easier to listen to. Overall I enjoyed the book. I’m sure I’ll read more books from this author.

An Unexpected Jewel
Revisado: 01-01-25
This popped up as a book recommendation I might like. I was just a kid-11 when Mama Cass died, so I didn’t know much about her. But I always enjoyed listening to her music and it brought back good memories from my childhood. This book was written by Cass’s daughter Owen who was only 7 years old when she died. She was trying to research and understand who her mother really was and tell her story and clear up some urban legends that weren’t really true. It starts off with some beautiful family history of the strong women she came from. Then there are many stories that were told to Owen, by the people important in Cass’s life or through documented interviews. This part took me a little longer to finish because it sparked the interest to go look at pictures or videos of her mom performing on the internet. There’s a great act with Dick Van Dyke on one of her shows that was worth looking up. I wanted to capture the beautiful person that Cass really was too. Her voice was so smooth and strong, she was funny and so talented! She went through a lot in the music industry to make it like she did. It’s interesting to hear her daughter’s recollections of her mother and the relationship they had. I’m glad I listened to the story in Owen’s voice. She did a very good job articulating it. I felt like this was a very well written book and enjoyed everything about it! I know her Mama Cass would be so proud!

Historia
When Tina Louise was around six years old she was shunted off to boarding school by her parents, who were divorcing. Sunday is her moving memoir of growing up in an uncaring world of strangers. With fidelity to the thoughts and feelings and language of a young girl, Tina writes about her childhood fears, fistfights, friends, and fantasies. A blue stone, the color of her mother's eyes, becomes her link to the world that left her behind; a childhood prank has adult repercussions; Sunday, the day when parents visit, becomes a day of hope and dreams of reconciliation.

Written in a child’s perspective
Revisado: 09-16-24
Tina Louise had a very hard childhood spent in an institution because her parents could not take care of her because of their young age. She wrote this book to encourage people to be better parents and not start a family when they are too young or before they are ready to become parents. The things that happen in childhood stay with people even after they grow up. It’s important to mold these small children into the wonderful people we want them to be. It was a bit hard for me to listen to, though, because it was written from a child’s perspective. It felt like she was reading a children’s book to me. But this was her life, and it was interesting to see what shaped her and how she overcame these hardships.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Remember, he’s human too!
Revisado: 09-30-23
I really enjoyed this book. I liked listening to it in Prince Harry’s own voice and expressions. Being from America, I didn’t know that much about him and some of the Royal Family. The paparazzi doesn’t always present him in the kindest way and I think that’s terrible and unfair. I can’t imagine going through life like that. I think he’s a lot more like his mother than I realized. He’s got more of a tender heart, and her loss at such a young age really affected him. I liked hearing how he spoke of Meghan and that he found true love. I really hope his family can mend their relationships and come together again. I felt this was a well written heartfelt book and I recommend reading it.

Historia
My life was going just fine by most standards. I ran a successful business in a tight-knit magical community, and lived just blocks from a beautiful lake and series of hiking trails. Then Selene showed up. According to some magical code I inherit my aunt's ancient familiar; a grumpy 10-pound cat with a broken filter.

A Cute Light Mystery
Revisado: 06-12-23
I really enjoyed this story. It’s a nice easy relaxing read. It had a good mystery that I kept my interest and enjoyment in the tale. The snarky talking magical cat was a fun addition and the bantering back and forth with her owner was entertaining. Sometimes it’s nice to have a break from all seriousness and this was just that.
