The story was a good story with a historical background and the added twist of the witchs battling a evil being over many overgenerations. The narratords were excellent and pulled you into the story with their performance.

Suspend disbelief becomes ridiculous
Revisado: 05-20-19
The story was good except the author kept making the main character who would have been one of the smartest people around to become a federal judge stupid at all the right moments to create suspense. A very intelligent federal judge who had a police officer gone rogue who was trying to kill her would not go back to where she grew up and her mother's grave on the anniversary of her mother's death. Stupid criminals on the run which is 95% of them flee to their home territory and family members and friends which is why law enforcement always look there first and find them most of the time. In other words a police office would know to look exactly where she went. Then once the guy tries to run her over, she thinks drunk, etc. rather than killer so she doesn't run or hide and is standing there when he comes back around. She conveniently forgets her cell phone when ever she would need it. I am so tired of this in novels as I am when they say they forgot their charger even though you can buy a charger at any drug store, convenience store, gas station, vending machine at airports, hotels, bus and train terminals, etc. Not say the characters are never smart enough to carry a extra charger in their car, purse, brief case, etc. like most people. Android or Apple you can find a charger almost anywhere in the world. So be a little more creative and don't make your supposedly smart character stupid. We are all stupid occasionally but if you are repeatedly then you are just stupid.

Historia
Area X has been cut off from the rest of the continent for decades. Nature has reclaimed the last vestiges of human civilization. The first expedition returned with reports of a pristine, Edenic landscape; all the members of the second expedition committed suicide; the third expedition died in a hail of gunfire as its members turned on one another; the members of the eleventh expedition returned as shadows of their former selves, and within months of their return, all had died of aggressive cancer.

A chick, esoteric Sci-Fi story somewhat boring
Revisado: 02-28-18
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Something dramatic and interest or surprising. Most of the story is the main characters musings in her mind., mostly about her past. The fact that the people were being incorporated into the environment was not original or surprising. I would like one story about an alien or outer world being where they don't have bioluminescence or impart it. Why the fascination with boluminescience?
What do you think your next listen will be?
I have many lined up.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The narrator was good and yes.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It gave a lot of interesting facts about biology. . I have had ponds and I agreed with the author about the fascination of watching a pond.
Any additional comments?
I think the author is looking for a purpose in life.

Historia
From the author of the international best seller The Stone Man, short-listed for Audible UK's Book of the Year Award 2015. Here are the rules. Method: you can't use a gun. You can't use explosives. You can't use poison. It has to be up close and personal. You don't have to worry about leaving evidence; that will be taken care of. Victim: no one suicidal. No one over the age of 65. No one with a terminal illness. Choose your method. Choose your victim.

a new twist and interesting story
Revisado: 04-28-17
Would you listen to Kill Someone again? Why?
It was good the first time but no. The main character was too whinny. Too many pages of his angst.
What other book might you compare Kill Someone to and why?
a Brian Haig novel
What does Matt Addis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He adds emotion and excitement to it.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not really.

Rich wife whining about her divorce
Revisado: 04-28-17
What did you like best about Lift and Separate? What did you like least?
Marci is funny but other than that the story is like a thousand others about a women going through a divorce. I would like one of these novels be by a women who is working and having trouble paying the bills and is not being supported by the husband they despise in a lavish life style. Having done divorce for 35 years the wife cheats as much as the husband but it is always the husband in these novels.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
There is no real ending. She learns to go on with her life like six billion other people
Which character – as performed by Donna Postel – was your favorite?
Marci is funny which is the only saving grace of this novel.
Could you see Lift and Separate being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
No
Any additional comments?
I listen to this novel waiting for a real story to develop but it was like a thousand others. Wife learns to live on her own, like it is a great achievement.

a formula novel that I gave up on half way through
Revisado: 04-28-17
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
This novel was like a thousand others. The love interest is a bad boy with long hair. The clean cut supposed good boy is a player, etc. No surprises and it follows the script of a thousand other novels in this genre.
Has Trouble in Mudbug turned you off from other books in this genre?
Be original and for once not have the two lover fight on first sight.
Would you be willing to try another one of Johanna Parker’s performances?
no.
What character would you cut from Trouble in Mudbug?
all of them

Historia
When Santa Claus is a cop, you better watch out. It’s not looking like a very merry Christmas for San Diego cop Nick Pappas. Suspended from his job, alienated from his family, and persecuted by the press, he’s sorely tempted to turn his gun on himself. Except for his first name, he couldn’t possibly have less in common with jolly old St. Nicholas. But when a local mall decides it needs a secret Santa to help collar some vicious muggers preying on its holiday shoppers, Nick’s persuaded to red-suit up so as to take the naughty punks down and avert a ho-ho homicide.

Charming, fun & predictable but that is its charm
Revisado: 03-01-17
Would you listen to St. Nick again? Why?
No. But it was a good book. It was funny with charming and well written characters. But once you know the story it is not one you want to listen to again.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Nick. He was believable as a character who is in a deep depression and who fights to stay in it because he feels so wronged by the world. He wants justification for his attitude.
Which scene was your favorite?
When Nick goes to the effort to make it snow at the hospital and the boy is too sick to enjoy it but other patients benefit.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes. Finding the little girl who wrote Santa Claus and started the whole crusade.
Any additional comments?
The writer is very good and I would read another book written by him

The protagonist and her profession are the twist
Revisado: 03-01-17
What did you love best about The Chemist?
The concept of a interrogation specialist who tortures with chemical compounds and the science of all of the different compounds she used for defense and offense. Ms. Meyer must have done a ton of research for this book.
What other book might you compare The Chemist to and why?
I am not sure I can explain it but I would compare it to the first Jack Reacher book. It had the same feel.
Have you listened to any of Ellen Archer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I am not sure but she was excellent.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Chemistry is more horrifying than any monster roaming the night
Any additional comments?
I think Ms. Meyer is a talented writer and enjoyed this book and the Host. I couldn't get into the Twilight series. I got half way through the first book and quit because I couldn't suspend my belief that vampires were beautiful, dazzling, noble, etc.

A funny and enjoyable High School Romance
Revisado: 03-01-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. Lara Jean is a quirky funny and intelligent girl who falls into her dream romance with her dream boy. How it happens and plays out is just a good story with believable and fun characters. I felt the story was about real people. It wasn't like so meany YA novels where a character is all good or bad. Lazy writers use characters that are all good and all bad. Jenny Han doesn't and her characters are people I knew in high school.Figuratively of course.
What other book might you compare To All the Boys I've Loved Before to and why?
The author's burn series. For the same reason stated above. The characters were real but interesting and fun.
What does Laura Knight Keating bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She is excellent for this type of book. Her narration was perfect in my opinion.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes if I had the time.
Any additional comments?
Other YA writers should learn from Jenny Han how to write believable but interesting characters.
