Historia
On a cold day in 1997, student Sara Morgan was killed in the woods surrounding her liberal-arts college in Upstate New York. Her boyfriend, Blake Campbell, confessed, his plea of temporary insanity raising more questions than it answered. In the wake of his acquittal, the case comes to haunt a strange and surprising network of community members, from the young woman who discovers Sara’s body to the junior reporter who senses its connection to convicted local serial killer John Logan.

Historia
Lina Meisel, a retired librarian in Florida, is reading the newspaper one morning when she freezes. Her eyes lock on a photograph of a book she hasn’t seen in 65 years - a book she recognizes as The Book of Lost Names. The accompanying article discusses the looting of libraries by the Nazis across Europe during World War II - an experience Lina remembers well - and the search to reunite people with the texts stolen from them so long ago. The book in the photograph is one of the most fascinating cases.

A sad story about what war does to a persons life but I had a really difficult time understanding the mother character. She was so mean to Ava I didn’t understand her

Historia
Four older women have a lifelong friendship of the best kind: loving, practical, frank, and steadfast. But when Sylvie dies, the ground shifts dangerously for the remaining three. They are Jude, a once-famous restaurateur; Wendy, an acclaimed public intellectual; and Adele, a renowned actress now mostly out of work. Struggling to recall exactly why they’ve remained close all these years, the grieving women gather at Sylvie’s old beach house - not for festivities this time, but to clean it out before it is sold. Can they survive together without her?

Historia
When 70-year-old Charlotte Perkins submits a sexy essay to the "Become a Jetsetter" contest, she dreams of reuniting her estranged children: Lee, an almost-famous actress; Cord, a handsome Manhattan venture capitalist who can't seem to find a bride; and Regan, a harried mother who took it all wrong when Charlotte bought her a Weight Watchers gift certificate for her birthday. Charlotte yearns for the years when her children were young and she was a single mother who meant everything to them. When she wins the cruise, the family packs all their baggage - literal and figurative....

Historia
People say you can’t ever go back. That some of the things that happen to us simply cannot be redone. But the paths of a life journey are rarely straight. They twist and turn and wind back across those once visited and long thought to have faded from existence. Becca Miller has lived her life trying to do the right thing, even when its cost has been giving up the boy she loved and wanted to marry. The sacrifice she made for her sister isn’t one she regrets because there was no other choice for her to make.

I think I would have enjoyed this book but there was something wrong with the audio. She read it like a robot. I tried speeding it up and then slowing it down but it didn’t help. So I hope that’s not how it was read

In the dead of winter, outside a small Minnesota town, state troopers pull two young women and their car from the icy Black Root River. One is found downriver, drowned, while the other is found at the scene - half-frozen but alive. What happened was no accident, and news of the crime awakens the community's memories of another young woman who lost her life in the same river 10 years earlier and whose killer may still live among them.

I liked the story and the good level of suspense but the ending went off track and left some unanswered questions. I actually said WHAT THE HECK out load and woke up my husband! I did love the performance of the reader

Unlikeable characters
Revisado: 04-08-19
I don’t think I liked any of the characters in this story. Violet the mom was the most passive aggressive person I have ever read about. And a FBI investigation over donated eye glasses was absurd. The only thing I liked was the reader who did use a charming Minnesota accent.

Disappointed with this book
Revisado: 11-06-18
This was narrated by a male and a female but I had a hard time with their tones. When they went between characters it was so distracting. For instance Hugo’s voice was not a good voice for Sophia. It made me laugh. And the story lost all credibility when Hugo suddenly became interested in his maid that was a big eww.
