Heralded as an instant classic of fantasy literature, Maguire has written a wonderfully imaginative retelling of The Wizard of Oz told from the Wicked Witch's point of view. More than just a fairy tale for adults, Wicked is a meditation on the nature of good and evil.

This needs to be redone
Revisado: 11-19-21
You can hear every swallow, inhalation, and stomach noises of the narrator. It’s is very distracting! I know this is a well loved narrator, so I suspect it is the recording quality and no fault of the narrator himself.
As for the story, it was ok. It was slow in parts and unnecessarily sexual (at times perversely so) for no real reason. I’m far from a prude but some of these passages were so cringey, for example a multi-endowed puppet pleasuring mother and child, a child experiencing his first erection while observing CPR and some beastiality in a sex club.

Unputdownable
Revisado: 02-15-20
This book was a fast paced thriller that I simply could not put down! I love a good unreliable narrator and this did not disappoint. I highly recommend this and will be looking for other books by this author.

Exciting listen
Revisado: 12-18-19
This was a great audiobook! I loved the narration and the rare medical condition made the descriptions so interesting. I had no idea that chromesthesia even existed. The slow unraveling of Bo’s past and how it shaped her current situation was very engaging. I’ll definitely check our books by this author and narrator again!

Wonderful series!
Revisado: 12-01-19
I adore this series! I waited for the audiobook to be released so I could listen to Scott Brick narrate the story. It was worth the wait! This latest installment of the Breakthrough series is significantly longer than the others — and just as engrossing! We once again get to hang out with our old animal friends Dirk, Sally, Dulce, and Dexter, plus we meet some new characters who will hopefully reappear in future books. I love where this story is headed and can’t wait to read & listen to the next in the series. I only hope that the audio is released sooner next time!

The next morning, Forrest finds himself alone. So does Annet. Regaining consciousness in a monastery, Annet is convinced the nuns are playing a prank on her. It can't be the 1800's!

Fun time travel story
Revisado: 07-21-19
The was a fun time travel romance novel. I am a sucker for time travel books and this one did not disappoint! On a stormy night, modern potty-mouthed (and pregnant) Annette is knocked out and wakes up to find herself two centuries back in time. Her language and modern feministic views cause quite the stir.
Meanwhile, her boyfriend, Forest, is left behind to wonder about her disappearance. From there, the story is told in alternating viewpoints from Annette and Forest’s new lives.
The book grazes over some historic moments and probably isn’t true to the language at the time, so I wouldn’t recommend this for historians. However, I would recommend this for romance readers and time travel enthusiasts. I will definitely read any other books by this author!

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Engrossing
Revisado: 02-06-19
I enjoyed this book! I was eagerly awaiting its arrival after seeing it hyped in several places. It grabbed me from the beginning, although there wasn’t a lot of action in the beginning. It picked up pace about halfway through and became impossible to step away from!
