Historia
The drow city of Menzoberranzan has fallen into discontent, sowed by the growing legend of the one who escaped: Drizzt Do’Urden. Now many of the drow—including the city’s most powerful house, led by the Matron Mother—are questioning the influence of the Spider Queen and the very history of the city’s founding. What secrets lie ahead? The drow are determined to find out, and they’ll stop at nothing to dismantle the very structure they’ve called home.

The Emotions
Revisado: 04-07-24
Another great story from RAS and read by Victor B. This one definitely sent me through all of the emotions! Also, RAS pulled no punches with demonstrating this power struggle.

Better than the first book
Revisado: 09-14-22
I believe the writing in this book is better than the first. It includes more details, backstory, and even introduces some points of mystery that have me wanting to read the next book.

Could use more details
Revisado: 09-06-22
Wasn’t bad. The story could definitely use more details and backstory building, though. I don’t even know the ages of the main characters or other key characteristics of anyone. Overall story pretty okay. The narrator wasn’t bad but I would wish he could “exclaim” better and use more than just a few different voice tones.

Ok Story, Narration Could Be Improved
Revisado: 06-05-19
The story was ok, though definitely not the most exciting of the series. There are also many parts of the story that are difficult to keep track of and that don’t flow smoothly. Overall not bad though.
As for narration, John Pruden seems to consistently forget how he has previously pronounced the names of people and cities, so I frequently have to think about what he’s talking about and make sure that he doesn’t mean someone that he’s already said before. Also, there are several parts of the audio which have odd breaks in them, even if they’re in the middle of the same continuing sentence. It makes the audiobook feel a bit “sloppy”.

Historia
Something akin to peace has come to the Underdark. The demon hordes have receded, and now the matron mothers argue over the fate of Drizzt Do'Urden. Even so, it becomes clear to one matriarch after another that while the renegade drow may come and go, Menzoberranzan, the City of Spiders, will crawl forever on. And so Drizzt is free to return to his home on the surface once again. Scores are settled as lives are cut short, yet other lives move on. For the lone drow, there is only a single final quest: a search for peace, for family, for home.

Best book of the series
Revisado: 11-16-18
This has honestly been the best book of the series by far. I have never cried so hard out of or happiness to any book or story as I half to this one. This book is highly recommended!

Powerful Story
Revisado: 08-18-18
Honestly, this is probably my favorite book of the series so far, and also the saddest. I’m not sure that I’ve cried so hard for any book that I’ve ever read, and not in a bad way at all.

Great story, TERRIBLE narration
Revisado: 07-30-18
I loved the story! Definitely a good addition to the series, featuring all the main characters.
What I didn’t like, at all, was the narration. Victor B is still definitely the best. The narrator should have researched the narration on previous books before narrating this one. Mark Bramhall did not pronounce many words the same way previous narrators did, so much so that I had to pause and consider what he might be referencing. His voice acting for characters was also a bit questionable.
Please provide a Victor B narration of this book.

Good Story, Narration So-So
Revisado: 04-25-18
As with the title, I really enjoyed the story ^_^. It’s good hearing some of the early days of Jace and the Lightwoods. Narration was so-so, a bit monotone for my taste. But overall pretty good :).
