Historia
For years Ellie, Alice, and Joan enjoyed a casual friendship while volunteering at their children's Connecticut high school. Now, with those children grown and gone to college, a local tragedy brings the three into contact again. But what begins as a catch-up lunch soon moves beyond small talk to the struggles of this next stage of life.

Relaxing Connecticut read
Revisado: 05-06-25
As a Connecticut local who adores New England towns this is such a delight to read. I appreciate that the characters are well rounded and there are no cliches. I feel like I know people like the characters in real life. Great, enjoyable read, at a relaxing but compelling enough pace. I enjoy listening to this book in the car driving through CT with my two boys under two asleep in the backseat. It’s some great relaxing “me time” before they wake up.

Historia
Louise was like any other excited mother-to-be during her first pregnancy, but no one could have predicted what happened when she gave birth. During an emergency c-section, she had severe complications and fought for her life over a number of days, whilst her son was taken into NICU. This terrifying experience impacted on Louise's mental health in a way that completely changed her life, as she has battled to come to terms with what happened to her, whilst also becoming a mother.

Frank yet inspirational

Written and spoken beautifully. I’ll remember this book for the rest of my life. A must read for anyone who wishes to have children one day. An extraordinary series of events but even more tremendous is Louise’s processing of her experiences. Listened to this within 24 hours. It’s categorically imperative that birth stories like this are supported so that positive change can be made.
